Back to the Beginning: Muscle Inc B700 DOT
« on: December 07, 2008, 08:05:04 PM »
Its a new month. Time for a new challenge.

Back to the Beginning.

Original Muscle Inc. B700 DOT spec.

Car Class is B.
Performance Index is 700 Maximum
Tires are Sport Compound (DOT) mandatory.

Pretty simple except when it comes to the tires. You do not have any option other than the Sport Compound tires. No stock tires, No Street tires, No Race tires. This always confuses people so make sure it says Sport Compound. You can use any of the tires listed in that option.

The Car List is as follows with no exceptions: Pre-1976 versions of these cars

Camaro Z/28
Camaro SS
Corvette Sting Ray
Corvette ZR-1
Chevelle
Dodge Charger
Plymouth Barracuda
Mustang Boss 429
Shelby GT 500KR
Pontiac GTO
Challenger
Trans Am SD 455

Note: The Charger and Chevelle may be restricted in some challenges.

That's it. You can build a car for grip and handling or power or a balance of both. These are the Muscle, Inc. Cars.

Track:
Maple Valley

With a year and a half worth of experience with the old iron, let's see how far we've come both as tuners and drivers.

I would encourage the ones participating in the first one, on the FM.net, to compare times and tunes from then and now.

Have fun,
Drift2XL

Money can come flowing in when you are testing on the B Class enduro.
Not mandatory. But if you want, share your best over all times.

Sweet.  I wasn't part of the group way back when.  This should be fun.

This looks like a good one, Drift.  I may get in on this... depends on how the workload looks.

It'll be the weekend for me, more than likely.  Anyone wanna put together an enduro Friday night?

Sounds good to me.  I don't think anything is going on on my end this weekend either.

As I make it, the best times for the Survivors (or surviving regulars should I say?) are:

Serial     Z28                94.035s
Drift       Boss              94.615s
Spiny     Camaro SS      96.708s
Blooze    GT500            96.765s
Stank     Charger          100.097s

Sorry if I've missed anyone - be interesting to see just how much we all improve (or otherwise)...

95 is a good target for DOT tires on this course.  IIRC, you ran at least that well when we had the MV Enduro last year, and you were in a bimmer with DOT's.  If I had to lay a line on this one, I'd say by the end you'll run a 94.839 or so.  These cars aren't as quick as the bimmer, but if there's any non-bimmer where you've got enough seat time to make good on that sort of goal, it's the B-class M-inc cars.

Took a Z/28 for a quick tuning run, Full WR, full width DoT's and just under 330bhp and got down to a  95.0xx... really nice car to drive a bit more time spent will see it probably get close to Drift's old time, Serial's would be a new PB...

Extra smokey.... now with no assists!

I am fooling around with the Boss for the AH. With the Purolater 21 paint. I wanted to level it out and I hadn't finished the B Class enduro yet. (restart all over again). With stock tune minus the usual alignment settings, netted me a 94.671.

Now, this is slightly conservative driving. I wasn't trying to make something back that wasn't there. So if I missed a half a line higher, I just waited to get back to it. Don't want to wreck and ruin the payout.

Three laps after best time, I had a -.598 at the first timing mark. Gonna try some different shock settings and see what I can get out of it. Solid as a rock. Nowhere near the twitchy monster that netted the 94.6.

94.058 in a Z/28.  A new PB!

She's got 93s in her, but its going to have to be an absolutely flawless lap.  I love the build I put on this car.  Its pretty much the same car I built for the last challenge but brought to B700 with full-width Hoosier DOTs, full WR, race exhaust and sport intake.

Well, I'm back in the loop, so I figured I'd try out the ZR-1 I had sitting around the garage.  The tune was one Detrick had posted on here a long time ago, and I must say, it's almost perfect.  I didn't fully realize how well that car could handle.  Now if only the nut behind the wheel was better.   ;D

After about a dozen laps, the best I could come away with was 98.118, but I know there are a couple of turns where I could pick up some more time.  I don't feel too bad though, as I'm normally 4 or 5 seconds slower than the rest of the crew.

I also tried out the Stingray, and let's just say she and I don't get along too well.  I borrowed another tune from Detrick for this one, and I'm sure it's a good tune, as I was able to easily pull the car out of the spins each time the rear end tried to pass the front (which was just about every turn).   :D

Throttle control barely begins to describe the soft touch needed, and I really wasn't in the mood to baby the car around the track.  I got it to around 100.xxx before I gave up.

Anyhow, thanks for the new challenge.  I'm thinking I may dig out the Z28 next.

   Corvette ZR-1: 98.118
