Scrutineering
« on: December 02, 2008, 02:02:17 PM »
Since it doesn't look like I'll make the last week's race, I guess I'd better put in the Clio's tune for all to see. One thing which has intrigued me is that the competitors seem to have divided into 2 camps - the "soft" camp and the "hard" camp. We've seen that the two tunes are competitive between themselves with Bimmer and Fndr. Talking with Boo, it became obvious that we're seeing the same thing with us two - my springs are "hard" at over 400lbs while Boo's are "soft" in the 200's.

Looks pretty similar to my tune.  I've changed the toe settings between .1 and 0 depending on track, though.  Have you stuck with the same build all season?

fndr, ou DO realize this is a Clio, right?  :D ;)
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

Pretty much the same tune all season. The front tyres had a PSI taken out after Maple Valley, the rear springs had about 25lbs added after Road Atlanta and I ran 0.1 toe front and rear for Tsukuba only. Other than that, it's been the same tune all the way through. I was particularly impressed that it coped so well with Diamondback then Sunset with no changes whatsoever :)

I ran the positive toe for DBack, Tsukuba, and MVS, IIRC.  I'm surprised at how similar our tunes are.

I should be surprised, but I'm not really. I knew from your earlier discussions with Bimmer that you were in the "hard" camp, so didn't expect your tune to be all that different to mine. It almost seems to me that there are two ways to tune these cars to be fast (soft or hard) and the one which suits you best depends on your driving style. Seems our driving styles are more alike than we'd realised ;D
