Rounds 17 & 18 Sunset Short Reverse
« on: December 01, 2008, 03:31:44 PM »
An incident packed couple of races here, Fluff had a disagreement with the end of the pit exit tyre barrier at the start of the Sprint race, then Fndr cut the last corner too much mid way through the Feature race and smashed into the tyre barrier on the pit entrance... He was right behind me at the time and it scared the life out of me it was so loud  :o  :D

I also heard there was a restart in the Sunday room after a three car pile up in the turn into the infeild..

Spiny was he's usuall dominant self and ran away with 2 race wins and 2 fastest laps, putting him back on top of the leaderboard after BOO got caught up in some bad lag with Razza and came off worse... so had his worst result of the season with a mere 19 points...

Remember of course that only the best 9 race weekends count, i've worked out what the points are with everyones current worst result dropped, Spiny's damn close to clinching the title, but its even closer for  2nd and 3rd with BOO and Res just one point apart and Maxster not far behind...

Here's the top 10...

POSITION                   GamerTag                    Deduction / Total Points
1Spiny11 / 243
2BOOARK19 / 221
3Resident Diamond12 / 220
4Maxster11 / 208
5Bimmer0 / 166
6Fndr6 / 163
7BarbecuePete0 / 150
8Stank0 / 118
9Razza0 / 114
10Bazza0 / 105

Extra smokey.... now with no assists!

This could be interesting...

It's looking more and more likely that I'm not going to be able to make the last race due to non-Forza commitments. Unless one gets cancelled I'll be taking a big fat zero from the last round :( By my reckoning, that wil give me a total of 254 points for the season, which means Boo needs 33 points or Res to get 34 points to win the title (what happens in the event of a tie?) That position is much stronger than I expected it to be pre-race, but it's by no means invulnerable. Looks like I'll just have to cross my fingers that neither of those two has a storming weekend.

I actually had a bit of luck in the sprint race - for the second week in a row I started on the front row which allowed me to get away and avoid Fluff's contretemps :) Then it was just a case of running steady for the finish. Obviously that meant starting at the back for the 2nd race, but unlike last week this one is easy to pass on. It helped too that others had a few mistakes along the way, although one of mine almost let in Bazza just after I'd taken the lead. Then it was another case of stay clean and run away and hide to the end of the race.

Be interesting to see what happens next week... 8)

So I guess this means that Bimmer is now Captain America, and I should bring an alternate livery to the finale?

Didn't Captain America get shot by a sniper a few years back? :P

I don't know...haven't really paid attention to comics for some number of years.  It's one of the many things I no longer have/make time to read.  Probably, though.

Im so gutted that we have no choice but to drop points. Its a harsh way to decide the title, not just for me but for res and spiny. Although it has to be said spiny is in the best position if he doesn't race but for me who's high results means i drop massive points it hurts. I know i have been consistent but to win the championship now will be a very tall order.

Im still gutted that i didn't get a restart on sunset infield...........and it was my birthday!!!!!

well all i will say is if your racing with me sunday don't hold me up cos im not gonna hang about and will be watching peoples racing very closely.

In reality its not really dropping points but the best 9 results that count, thats why Bimmer is ahead of me even though we both missed 2 races....

When I looked over the results Spiny has outscored everyone at most tracks and taken the most wins, so it is a fair result overall...

Extra smokey.... now with no assists!

Good luck Boo. It won't be a disgrace to lose to either you or Res. Your consistency has been waaaaaay better than anyone else - as can be witnessed by you dropping 19 points when Res is the next highest loser on 12. Meanwhile, Res is very, very quick as can be seen by the qualifying times at the 'Ring. I honestly think he would have walked away with this is he'd run a manual.

I know what you mean about it seeming harsh to be losing out on dropped scores, especially if it turns out that you would have won otherwise. As it is, it is looking a lot like I might clinch it by the skin of my teeth even with 3 bad races and a (probable) non-start. However, those rules were in place at the start of the season so those are the ones we've played by. I have to admit that until a couple of weeks ago I was going to make every week and would be one of those losing out with the dropped scores. I can't help but be honest that it is going to be a benefit to me. I'd have loved to have proven myself on the track, but other events have dicated otherwise (unless Sunday's regular pub trip is cancelled...)

I really hope we see close races. It should be the best driver who wins, not the one who avoids most accidents. But, as I said before, whether the champion is Boo or Res, they will be a worth winner.
