I might actually have to run a manual gear change for this one.  How many gears is everbody using?

If I remeber right I'm running 5, although I'm only using 2nd through 5th once I'm underway. I also need to make a slight change to the suspension/ARBs before I re-run this as the current build shows understeer, especially on that corner leading onto the Rahal Straight. Only trouble is, if I gain too much time on last time I'll be catching the other cars before they pit - last time the only one I had to get around was that Caddy.

On the Cuda I only just used four, although it probably needed 5.  Only on the home straight did I hit 4th.  It made it a fairly easy drive.

I took a run out in a Shelby Mustang tonight, Really good car and it ran out 6 seconds quicker than the Barracuda in the enduro despite some terrible driving at times on my part  :-\

Its half a second a lap faster than the Cuda so if I can just be a bit more consistant with it I'll easily be able to take more time off... I caught most of the lap traffic on their pitstops this time which really helpped too, but I did end up having a run in with the Caddy near the end and took some slight damage..   ::)

Blooze you're starting over?  ???  Whoa!  Bummer.  Too bad it didn't coincide with the release of Forza 3.

As for this challenge...  nearly 50 minutes to run once, yikes!   Impressive that the top two times are less than a second apart after 48 minutes of racing though.  And Reno ran it twice!  Ah to have free time...

Not so much free time as maximizing what little free time you have.  ;D

Don't worry about if you've not got enough time for the Enduro Qmole, you can still post up hot-lap times and livery's...

Although how you could only play Forza for less than an hour at a time I don't know...  :D

I had another go at this last night and am pleased to say that I was more consistent on the first stint. However, I was slower on the second stint in relation to my fastest lap, but as the fastest lap was faster that's not necessarily a disaster. The RX-7 pitted earlier this time so I had to pass him as well as the Caddy (it's one of the few times where the statement "Classic muscle car outhandles Japanese sports car is accurate") but fortunately neither put up much of a struggle with me catching and outbraking Jim Davis into the last corner and getting the RX-7 2 corners after I caught him by getting a better run onto the Rahal straight. The others again pitted at good times for me.

Pre-race though, i softened the front end a bit to try and get rid of some understeer. That left me with a Challenger with this build/tune:

Upgrades:
Power: None
Platform: All Race upgrades, except Street weight reduction
Tyres: Street Toyos, 275/50/R15 Momo Racer rims
Aero: Forza rear spoiler

Stats:
Power: 425 bhp
Torque: 490 lb-ft
Weight: 3658lbs

Tune:
Tyres: 28/29
Gears: FD - 3.30, 1-6 = 2.89, 1.99, 1.51, 1.23, 1.05, 0.90
Camber: -0.9/-0.8
Toe: 0/-0.2
Caster: 5.4
ARBs: 24.79/17.65
Springs: 793.6/491.3
Ride Height: 6.1/6.1
Rebound: 14.5/10.0
Bump: 7.2/5.0
Aero: N/A/50 (min)
Braking: 47% Front/100% Pressure
Diff: 40% Accel/20% Decel

Benchmark:
0-60: 5.198s
0-100: 11.966s
Top Speed: 147.3mph
60-0: 110.9ft
120-0: 300.6ft
g's@60: 0.99
g's@120: 0.96

I used 5th gear at the end of the S/F straight with this set-up, hence me calling it a 5-speed tune. However, I change up at 6000rpm to use as much of that torque as possible, if you were to run it as a 4-speed it would be approaching the red line at the end of the straight.

As for the new times:

Enduro

48:31.819    1970 Challenger       Spiny

Hotlap

95.392        1970 Challenger       Spiny

I think there's another 5 seconds in the race time, but really can't face running the track again to find out. :-\

I'm knackered.  Just spent a few hours while in my hotel room building up a few cars a trying out with these lap times.

GT500KR - 95.808
Boss Mustang - 95.998
Camar Z28 - 95.369
Camaro SS - 95.705
Dodge Charger - Initial 95.301

Seing as the Charger came out the quickest I took it to the Enduro:-

Enduro

48:23.951    Dodge Charger       sk15kev

Hotlap

95.103    Dodge Charger       sk15kev

I may hotlap the Charger a bit more, it is worth sub 95.  I set this lap time on lap 29/30 ???

Right now I have...

Camaro Z28 - 96.725 :-\

Funny (in a sad way) how quickly one's skills can erode when not being used on a constant basis.  I have a 95.4xx with the very same car on this track but can't get near it right now.

My current build (50/76) is a bit oversteerish so I am to give a 52/76 a shot and see if that helps a bit.

While trying to level up and get my Leguna chops back I've been running the Rivalry - Great American Face Off Leguna Seca race over and over again (It's only 4 laps).  I have yet to beat the Cobra Mustang.  If you are running a C classed Camaro or Mustang, you might want to take it to this race and see how you fare - it makes for a pretty good race against the hard AI...

I watched the Monterey Classic on the Speed Channel recently - this challenge puts me in mind of one of their races.  It was the old Trans Am Series cars on Leguna Seca.  It was cool watching the old Mustangs and Camaros run around the track (the Boss Mustangs ruled, btw) .  "Damn", I thought, "that looks just like a Forza race."  The Turn 10 folks sure deserve a tip of the hat.

But, one thing I noticed is that the elevation changes seemed much more severe in RL than they do in the game.  But, then again, that may be a property of the Bumper Cam perspective that I use.

Anyways, I like seeing Real Life races on tracks that we run in Forza.  I think to myself, "Heh, I can do that..."

I bet you guys are glad I showed up in time to take over the bottom of the leaderboards...  :-\

Camaro Z28

Hotlap: 96.282
Enduro: 49:40.981

Lapped traffuck really messed with me towards the end of the race, plus I was gettin' plain ole sloppy as well.  I may try this again a little later on...

been taking a break from forza, as its gotten pretty boring lately.  I might hop on and run this tonight.  I'm hoping for a 47 min, but 48:30 seems more like the reasonable guess.

I'm just glad you were able to make it along Blooze, didn't take you too long to level up enough then?

I've now been for a run out in a Camaro Z/28 as well, a full grip build with just a touch under 300bhp its not as fast as the other cars in a straight line but plenty of grip helps it to second fastest overall, just 4 seconds behind the Shelby, again I had problems with the lap traffic and got 5% body damage but it didn't affect the lap times too much... I'm hoping to get another run out in this and the Shelby before I have to close this one up and see if I can catch up to Reno's race time but I think I can catch Spiny or Kev..

Enduro

48:55.108       Camaro Z/28

Hotlap

Here's a few shots from my time at the track so far..

Good to see you made it Blooze!

1969 Camaro Z28
Hot Lap: 94.906
Enduro: 48:35.595

I had an incident with a lap-down Evo around lap 25 that caused my front bumper to go yellow(5% body), but I set my fast time after the contact. :o

The build for the car included Yokohama DOT tires @ 215/0R16 on Work rims.  Sport Weight Reduction, with full platform and rear wing, and sport intake/exhaust.  This is a pretty fun little car!
