Rounds 9 & 10 Tsukuba
« on: November 02, 2008, 08:56:14 AM »
More great racing this week, Chop and Fluff were never more than 50 meters apart in both the Sprint and the Feature race... I was lucky enough to start in pole for the Sprint race and managed to pull out enough of a lead over the first few laps including taking the fastest lap to get a comfortable win from Maxster.

Feature race was easily the best race I've had all season and after starting last I managed to make my way up to second..  Lots of action so Im gonna go through the replay and get some pictures...

Highlights include Maxster making an early push from 6th up to 1st through traffic, Me and fluff side by side for whole lap with Chop right behind us.. Then Chop decided he wanted a go and also spent a lap side by side with Fluff...

Lazy response:  Boo could run low 59's, me, betterman and razza were in the high 59's.  Sprint had Boo starting front row I believe and he just made distance on us all throughout the 10 laps.  I had a great start, from 4th to 2nd and was able to hold of Razza.  Feature race had an incident in turn one.  The inside rumble strip area turned into bumper to bumper about three maybe four rows deep.  Unfortunately I was the caboose in the chain reaction and contact from me left betterman nose first into the inside wall.  After that the running order quickly reversed itself, Boo from back to front, Eop from front to back, I got by Cookie, but not Razza.  Razza made a run for fastest lap in the feature and had Boo beat for a few laps late in the race with a 59.4 but that was bested later with a 59.3.  Ok not so lazy as I had forseen.

Seriously Intense racing.

And, as Diamond can attest, I am guilty of tire murder.

ONE WHEEL BURNOUTS FTW  ;D ;D ;D

Glad you all had some good racing guys.... Sounds like Bimmer may need a new LSD for the next race though..  :D

I should have the points table updated later on today...

It all went a bit wrong for me this weekend, although not in the way I was expecting.

Race 1 saw the dangers of running French cars :D - electrical gremlins meant I failed to make it from the lobby to the race so nul points for me :( Unfortunately, that failure to start meant I was at the back of the grid for Race 2. Early on Bimmer, Resident and Bloodshot made a break leaving me, Richben and Smiffy to scrap for the lesser places. By lap 8 I'd managed to find a way past Richben and Smiffy and set about chasing after Bloodshot, who was slowly losing ground to Bimmer and Resident. By lap 14 I was on Bloodshot's bumper, and by virtue of a late apex was able to get side by side going onto the back straight. Bloodshot had a slightly faster apex thoough and by the time we got to the sweeper had extended the gap to about half a car length. Then the incident occurred...

From my viewpoint it seemed that Bloodshot turned in on me. I expect that from his viewpoint I drifted wide and hit his 3/4 panel, and that it was really a typical racing incident where both drivers tried to give the other room, but it just didn't quite happen. Unfortunately the upshot was that Bloodshot slid off into the gravel while I continued with an undamaged car. Unlike the previous 2 meetings where I seemed to be the cause of an accident, this time I felt it was a genuine 50-50 collision - if it goes to the stewards and they feel differently I'll obviously take any punishment meted out in this direction.

After that, I began chasing down Resident, who in turn was chasing down Bimmer. With a 50 lap race, we might have had different order as Resident was closing in on Bimmer and I was closing in on the pair of them. But it wasn't to be and Bimmer claimed the win.
