I'm quitting.
« on: October 20, 2008, 06:22:03 AM »
I'm leaving the clio cup series, reason being is that it gets me so damn frustrated its starting me make me wonder if I should give up forza altogether.
Last night the first race was fine i came from 8th to 2nd with no damage and without hitting anyone, it was fun.
Second race i started at 7th, got to 5th then spiny hit me at over 100mph at the chicane just after the main straight, now he did apologise and we kissed and made up lol.
I got back on the track trying to gain a decent position. But the car had damaged rear springs and dampers, damaged rear bumper and skirts.
This wasnt very noticable until i follow the lines of the person in front then it came apparant that my handling was definately being afftected.
So, i got right right behind cookie when he came off the track and i warned him that I was beside him, my words were "be careful as you come back on cookie, I'm to the left of you".
I dont know WTF he was doing but he blatently hit me, sending me off the track and causing even more damage to an already fucked car,he didnt apologise or anything then 3 laps later he quit the fucking race!!
I ended up finsihing 6th (i think) and left the lobby quite pissed off, i swore that wasnt going to take this series seriously but when members have a blatent disregard for others it gets on my tits, I even started to take things out on the Mrs which is something i do not want to do.
So theres my story, if anyone wants my car then send me a msg on xbl and i will gladly send it to them, meatball

People coming back on the track if they are not experianced competition racers is a real problem when damage is on.  I know it adds to the realisum but body damage cant be fixed so lap times drop to a point that you will be last. maybe this should be changed?

The reason you are pissed off is why Forza is so good its emotion the buz tension. walk away and come back. I had a split lobby last week in a diferent race and I way flying up the field had the best setup and then bang on my own in the room. I was so pissed off.  Look at F1 the number of cars that dont finish the first lap! how must they feel punted off by some wanabe after two weeks long flights 50 people working on your car!

Take a couple of days away before you make that choice.  Road Atlanta tends to eat cars in online racing.  Next week at Silverstone should be better.  Longer straights should make for easier passing.  MVS was very clean (at least in my room), and Mugello Short was also largely incident-free IIRC.

And, in short, its racing: shit happens - I got taken out of the room because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time in the first race.  Full red aero added 4+ seconds/lap for 8 laps, and I finished a lap down to everyone save Fndr (who was the person I hit).

If you want to quit, that's your decision.  You will be missed.  Like the others said, take a couple of days before making your decision.

Best of luck to you either way  :)
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

I hope you change your mind meatball - you're definitely one of the best drivers out there and will be a big loss to the championship. I can't speak for Cookie, but I'm glad you accepted by apology - on my part that was one of my most embarassing cock-ups in a long while. I've been playing this game for long enough to know that you have to brake earlier that usual when you're in traffic. That part of my brain worked for the first half lap then I had what Ron Dennis calls a "brainfart", tried to brake at my usual point and realised that meat was already well on the brakes and I had nowhere to go. As I said, extremely embarassing and definitely something to learn a lesson from on my part.

I suppose at least I suffered enough aero damage to be unable to make up any places after pitting - I fully deserved my last place in that race. You didn't deserve that 5th though. Trouble is that Road Atlanta is one of those tracks where a damaged car will kill your chances - when I hit you I hoped I hadn't done too much damage. Wish I hadn't been proven wrong. :-[

Glad you're back aboard, Meat!  Silverstone should provide the opportunity for some good clean racing.  The straights are long enough to allow for good passing.  I think that's part of the prob with RAS.  There are only two meaningful straights, and both end in turns that are pretty unforgiving.  The back straight ends in a chicane where missing the first apex will KILL the second, and hurt you all the way through the s/f line.  The s/f straight ends in a slightly more forgiving turn, but if you're taking it full speed, you're hitting both rumble strips.  The straights themselves are also pretty short.  By the way, after Silverstone, we're hitting Tsukuba, right?  lol

Yeah, glad your back in Meat..

Hopefully this will be the only major incident of the championship... there's bound to be some accidents with such closely matched cars but I'm sure everyone will be doing there best to avoid each other..
Extra smokey.... now with no assists!

Glad to see you back Meat - I should be running Saturday so you should be safe from my incompetence this week :P

On a more serious note, this is just the sort of thing I suggested stewarding for. Would have been somewhat ironic if I'd been one of the first to get penalised :-[

If it's any help, at the start of the series I went in with the thought that I would be taken out twice through the series (note I'm referring to accidents rather than deliberate take-outs) and would be the cause of two major accidents myself (but hoped for less). So far I've been lucky with the opposition - I wish you'd been as lucky with me...
