I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think so......
« on: July 07, 2008, 01:59:13 PM »
While in the midst of moving I decided to start up a new offline profile for the sake of sanity.  Since I've already mastered the North American region I figured I would pick a different one this time.  Turns out Asia won the bid.  I decided to do better at setting up my cars and logging things like I should have the first time around.

So what did I choose as my opener this time, couldn't be the Solstice again, and there aren't many RWD Asian cars in the lower classes, damn.  Went ahead with the Toyota MR-S to start my new career.  Boy it sucks to be broke in Forza!!

I'm not keeping any cars that I don't absolutely have to that aren't from Asia.  As I win them I sell them and move on. I'll be using exclusively Asian cars to keep the Career in tact.  The Delta Integrale was the first victim so far and the Z/28 is on the chopping block after the Big Block Challenge.  I'm very pleased with my progress so far even though I only have 1 tuned car.  Discovering all the cars I passed over the first time around has been an eye opening experience.  I have driven every car that I've won to compare times and that does include the Mugen I so love to hate.

Spanky's Speedshop is still alive and well but our sister shop in the orient will be handling all of the Asian work from now on.  Getting it up to speed means my current (and older) projects are on hold till I'm back online.  I'll be posting builds, tunes, QR's, and general notes here to document my time abroad.   I'll start with the MR-S and continue as the Career dictates.

Update (7-14): Felt well under the weather on Saturday and Sunday, too much moving I think.  Took it a bit easy and that means I was up for some Forza.  I cleaned out the non-Asian cars from my garage except for the Z/28 which immediatly went to Muscle Inc spec for the Big Block Challenge, American Iron Series and the Camaro vs Mustang Challenge.  Completed all of the races in all of the series and reluctantly sold the Camaro, the Guldstrand prize car and decided to keep the Ligenfelter for the Corvette series.  Since I unlocked the Professional Series races at level 20 I can start quantifying my cars in each class by their ability to complete in the class specific races.  First up is the MR-S in D-class and then on to the VIS Integra, Border MR-2 and the Toyota Sprinter Trueno in C-class.  I've noticed that there really isn't a need for D-class cars in Career beyond the few class specific races.  Almost all of the other races are mixed PI.  I don't look forward to the Lightweight Challenge as my little Trueno is getting paired with the VX220 and the Opel Speedster both are B-class, I may be in for a real race.  I've yet to build any of the better Asian cars like the Skylines, Subaru's, or Evo's and I look forward to doing so.  Setting up my B-class arsenal should be lots of fun with the Do-luck cars and any others that will fit in there.  On a side note, I've run enough races with the cars I've sold to surplus some cash that isn't earmarked for use on other cars, almost 450,000 cr's.  It will most certainly increase as I will be re-running the cars in QR and Professional Series races next time I'm on.

I picked this car as my lead into the Career, a new starter car.  I decided to pick a RWD because I'm stubborn.  I could have gone for an easier to drive, easier to control, FWD car but I couldn't do it.  I like the overall feel of the car and I got used to its rotational tendancies quickly.  I set a rule for myself that I could only spend money on the car that I won with the car.  No padding a super car with the winnings of my race mule or vice versa.  It's slow going so far in career, planning which parts to buy next, budgeting my winnings, and not arbitrarily taking the cars to the peak of any class, what a break from what I'm used to.  I guess having over 30 million will do that to you.  The MR-S is a joy to drive, it launches well, corners well and so far has plenty of power to handle to lower class AI.  I can't forsee it being an online contender but that isn't the purpose, its a career car.  It took several full series to even determine what class to put it in and I will say that most of the winnings went into the bank long before the first upgrades were purchased.  Driving these cars stock against the CPU is easier now, go figure.  The full QR is on the way, the need for money outweighed the need for test and tune.  I was able to compete in a good portion of the events BUT I'll need a different car to move on so this one will get Biased, SWR'ed and Aligned before its located in the back of the garage to make room for a new animal.

What can I say about this car that hasn't already been said or proven.  As far as I can tell this is the fastest RWD hatchback car in the initial release.  In full grip form this car is smokin fast and I've chased down many many leaderboard cars online.  I think its very comfortable and predictable.  I plan on making lots of money on this one in Career.  So far its dominated the Hot Hatch, Lightweight, and under 150hp series.  As the money comes in it will get the full tune and build listed above so its slow going but well on its way.

Fits the bill for a C-class MR car, we'll see how it stacks up!

     Deceleration:  55%

Built the car out to C550 over the weekend with some of its winnings but didn't have time to give it a full toon.  Its powerful enough at 210hp/205tq so I went straight for handling.  Incidentally I opened up the Professional Series races while leveling the car and now have a theater to test all of my cars againt themselves, at least in D and C class.  I really like the car so far but I believe I may need to rebuild it and install a Race Trans, the 3-4 gear change is a bit steep.  All in all it smokes the AI (big shocker) and is a blast to drive.  I didn find that the caster on the MR Toyota's makes a larger difference than I'm used to.

More to follow.

Okay so I built one out using Ske's specs and its pretty quick, I was more imoressed with how well it handled stock than tooned and I've started tinkering with its newer brother the Mugen Civic and the results are promising however this car sets some pretty impressive baselines.  Still my nemesis.

The good news is I can finally go after some good times without tainting my leaderboard online.  I really like the way this car drives stock, it sticks like glue.  Its another car I never gave a second look to the first time and it will be nice to try it out and not feel guilty about it.

This will stay stock until after the Factory Spec Series.  Then I think I'll have a try at making this a higher class car.  Not sure where it will go but I did have one of these with a Rotory motor swap in S-class of Forza 1.  Maybe I'll put in the motor swap and use that a a decent baseline.  Just have to increase my driver level to unlock that series so this will have to wait.

I'll have to do some digging in BB Racing for all of his notes on this beast of a car.  Nothing like standing on the shoulders of giants to get the job done.  I have this car tuned in my Fit profile all the way up to D400 and it is very fast.  I stole the Blooze transmission settings and it definately improved the way the car works.  I've heard good things about the car in C-class but I never changed it was working well as it was.  This will be my chance to make it truly shine.

This car is a blast to drive stock, almost as much fun as the 22B, almost.

[edit] This car continues to amaze me.  In stock trim it can wipe the floor with the AI and I', nearly tempted to leave it that way since I'm off line with the thing.  I'll save all the down and dirty for the other account.  Wow, what a car.

Drove this stock last night in the 6 Cylinder Shootout.  I was suprised at how well it held the road.  Not overly powerful, not overly grippy, very balanced stock.  I'm pretty curious about how this car is biased and swr'd stock.  It's one of the higher classed cars that I have so I'll be trying to keep it as a compromise power build.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
