Nice MV time, man.  Others aren't bad either.

Update to add Nurb time and tune.

I'm going to use those five tracks to measure effectiveness.
I don't think that time is that bad for the 'Ring. This a full aero, full DF, under 300HP grip beast.

Update on S13 Files

I spent the better part of last night running through the first rebuild. If I can glean some new tune ideas from this car. Watch out in a LMMS car.

TEST DAY #2
Rear spoiler only

High RPM

The Build:

Engine:  Sport Cam and Head ; Street Fuel Upgrade ; Sport Intercooler
Chassis: same as before
Tire:  Up size to 18 inch rim ; Stock Wheels ; all other parts the same as before
Aero:  Forza rear spoiler only

The Tune:
Same as baseline tune except Rear Downforce set at 100, and FD up from 3.75 to 3.90 with a .88 6th

The Stats:
Speed 5.0    Top Speed 160 MPH
Accel  4.3    (0-60 4.65)   (0-100 11.89)
Brake  5.5    (60-0 105.1)   (100-0 279.3)
Hand   5.3    (1.09 @ 60)   (1.06 @ 120)

263 HP
233 tq
2528 lbs

The Results:

Quick Rank:
 58.140   Rd Atl S
 76.220   Seb S
 58.007 Tsu
192.367

Maple Valley:
1:33.151

Nurburgring:
8:10.377

The Drive Notes:
This thing lost virtually no grip in the removal of the front bumper. Now it handles almost Porsche like. I can feel the weight on the rear tires. And the grip is good. Turn in is only slightly decreased. I feel it only lost on a couple of corners to the front DF. One of those happened to be the 2nd turn on MV. I can't keep the foot down and its costing me anywhere from .5 to .7 seconds. If I can get the line perfect, I expect another big time reduction. The QR was reduced by almost two full seconds with over a second from Sebring alone. The Ring time was reduced by almost five seconds.

Torque Build:

The Build:

Engine:  Street Exhaust ; Race Ingition ; Race Block Prep ; Race Intercooler
Chassis: Same as High RPM
Tire: same as High RPM
Aero: same as High RPM

The Tune:
same as High RPM, except for FD at 3.75

The Stats:
Speed   5.0   Top Speed 157 MPH
Accel    4.7   (0-60 4.28)  (0-100 11.41)
Brake    5.5   (60-0 105)   (100-0 278)
Hand    5.3    (1.09 @ 60)  (1.06 @ 120)

265 HP
265 tq
2528 lbs

The Results:
 57.717 RAS
 76.202 Seb
57.934 Tsu
191.857  QR

MV long
1:29.995

Nurburgring
8:09.834

Drive notes:
If you're going to build any car with aero, build for torque. The massive reduction in the RAS time was mainly due to better mid turn speeds due to earier braking and turn in.

The only time I can see building for high RPM is a car that is high PI with exceedingly low weight and you cannot control the tail. The only car I have seen a dramatic difference in is the TVR Sagaris for the (now dead) Supercar Series. I'm figuring that a pure torque build on this 2200lbs monster, would make hooking up the rear tires an excersize in futility.

Update to rear spoiler only torque build. This seems to be the way to go for the lower class cars.

Personal best times added to RAS and MV in B class.

Now on to that leaderboard :P

I'm going to try and finish this project in the near future (as in the next few weeks).

Hopefully the GTA and Juiced 2 holiday hasn't gotten me off the game to much.

That is unless someone decides to have another Tuning Challenge that is all consuming like the last B Classer.
That was fun!

Post updated with QR for torque build - rear spoiler. I tried to get a clean lap at Nurb, but it was too late.

The torque build has a hair more acceleration than the HP build. It should take it. The question is by how much.

Right now, the times only show a gain of a tenth. On a perfect lap, I could get another tenth out of Tsukuba, probably two. Less than a tenth at Sebring, but I was chasing the Shelby ghost. IDK if there is anymore at that track. I was winging it pretty hard through the bouncy turns pretty hard.

So a torque build is worth at least tenth a lap right now. Maybe more on some tracks with slow turns and long straights.

I did try a single level power build. I put all first level upgrades on the car and came out with 258 HP. Close to the B 700. The car was faster than previous attempts with the torque at a best of 58.179 at Tsu. But I count that to driver. I was driving in the manner of the Shelby and not a grip monster. Change over to momentum racing and lowered times about 4 tenths.

Once I was good on the line and style. I rebuilt for torque. Out came the 57. The torque build is just better for lap times with an aero equiped car.

Now to finish Nurb and find out about a slick aero car.

[EDIT]: Nurb time finished. Not exceptionally clean but faster none the less. Lost about a sec on the third to last turn.

I fooled around with a single aero build with just the front spoiler on it. I was expecting a fishtailing experiecne but it wasn't that bad. The nose did grip better. The rear felt slightly looser than with a full DF build, but not uncontrollable.

Times were not better, actually about .7ths off the best time so far with an 58.7 at Tsu. This might be a good deal for a car with middle of the road power and an excessively bad push.

Still working on trying to get to a slick aero build. I wish I had the time but......

Hey Drift,

Some cool experimenting here.  I've been running the Ring in B class the last couple days for a thing over on Exodus.  I may give your car a try as your times are way better than mine (of course my not knowing the course very well and my inconsistent driving are major factors.)  I really don't like driving the typical leaderboard missle cars that do well there.  I was playing around with the old BMW from the current challenge here.  I did experiment a little with some of the lesser BMW rear areo but eventaully went back to full bat mode.
