Hekalite's Muscle Inc Challenger(Laguna style)
« on: October 07, 2007, 03:15:49 PM »
Here is my build for the October Muscle Inc. challenge.  Please feel free to give this a try and leave any comments.  Right now, I feel it's working pretty well everywhere except RA.  I can live with that sacrifice if I have to. :)

Edit: it would help if I listed the correct car in the title.  It's the 1970 Challenger R/T Hemi.

You've been setting some darned good times with this thing Hek. I've not got the DLC pack as of yet so for all I know it could be some quirk of the Challenger, but I am curious as to why you're running a stiffer rear bump damper than rear rebound. I'm still at the novice stage of this tuning lark  :) but so far everyone has told me that I should run softer bump dampers than rebound. Obviously this setup is working pretty well for you so I'm just hoping to try and learn why this works...

I wish I had some very technical explanation for that, but it is what feels right to me.  I usually set front and rear equal for both rebound and bump and then adjust each individually a little at a time until I get the feel I'm looking for.  I know that is probably like nails on a chalkboard for spreadsheet guys like Blooze, but there it is. No magic formula, just good ole trial and error...a whole lot of both.  :)

hey all, new timer :)

Thought id try and replicate this setup to see how much difference the tuning has over the base build, however i did ot get that far.

With all race spec parts and the wing and wheels and full weight reduction and full width tyres i get to 709 ? did you not buy something in handling?

Cheers,

Rob

I'll double check the list when I get a chance.  I may have mis-posted something.  I should probably also post up my final tune for that challenge.  Sorry I didn't see this earlier.  I usually troll the forums at work and I've been super busy lately.  When I'm multitasking I can get a little spacey.  ::)

I double checked the specs and they are correct.  I would guess you are probably missing something in the wheels.  Make sure the rims are Racing Hart C4 and your rim size is 19" and don't forget the Froza wing because it usually lowers PI.

Here is the final tuning I had for the Laguna challenge with the changes from above highlighted in blue.

Front: 30psi
Rear: 30psi

Gears
FD: 3.71

Rear camber: -0.7

Springs
Front: 374.1
Rear: 287.9

Front height: 5.9
Rear height: 5.9

Front rebound: 10.0
Rear rebound: 7.1

Front bump: 7.5
Rear bump: 5.0

And you know the funny thing is I know which way I'm supposed to spell it but my fingers don't always type the right word.  I've written posts where I spell it both ways.  Sorry 'bout that guys.  Too bad there is no dunce hat wearing smiley.  Oh, and in my defense, that first post was made before Blooze went on a tear about brakes and I cut & pasted without thinking.

Here and Hear is the one that messes with me all the time.  I have to catch myself and check it or half the time I will have the wrong variation in place.
