Well, with the little one on the mend and the houseguests off to the airport, I should have a chance to get back to Forza tonight. The troubling question is, what to do?

I've got setups to pull off and post, a number of experiments lined up with the first one being on dampers, lots more TimeTrials to get through. Now, a new ALS/500 challenge to add to the mix. That could easily take up several days just by itself.

I love how much this game has to offer but, sheesh! If only I could afford to sleep during the day and drive for 8 hours a night....

Ordinarily this would be a day that I would have called in sick but, we've got a couple of people out already today and I just wouldn't feel right about leaving the department so short. Why, The duels!

Sure, I've got the DVR set to record the twin quailfiers at Daytona today but, it isn't the same as seeing them when they're actually happening. I'll have to be carefull of what I read today as I don't want the results spoiled for me before I get a chance to watch them...

One could probably surmise by my absence over at the Corvette challenge, that I have decided to pass on this event. While I hope that Dirt doesn't take it as a personal slight,  ;)  I felt like I was starting to have too many things on my plate and that can stress me out.

I could have used another good A classer and will probably get around to building one out anyway. I could also have used some track time at RdAtl. When considering taking up the challenge, I took a quick survey of my exhibition times there and estimated picking up a little over a minute by rerunning all the classes with a bit more effort than I applied the first time through but, that could throw me off my intended course for a couple of weeks.

In the end, I decided that I already had three projects to work on: Getting things up and running in my new garage, still pending tuning experiments, and TimeTrials. If I feel like I'm continuing to make progress on those, I'll feel better about missing out on a great challenge with you guys.

Bitten again by equipment failure!

Fortunately this time its just the downshift paddle on my MS wheel but, it put the damper on last night's activities rather quickly. I was running the TimeTrial at Suzuka when I got an invite from TJN ( sorry, I guess it wasn't meant to be ) and just as I was getting ready to wrap things up and go online, when crunch.

It lasted most of a year and I did take the 2yr ext warranty on it so, I'll be boxing it back up and taking a trip in-town to BestBuy today. Now, if I can only resist the urge to spend money while I'm there...

I wouldn't say that I feel obligated but, I do want to make more of an effort to support the projects and people that continue to make contributions to this community. That is the primary reason why I wanted a place of my own in this forum to begin with, to have discussions on subjects that I am trying to learn about and share information about the things that I have already learned.

I've benefitted alot from the discussions/challenges that have taken place here and I've come to feel that I'm now in a position to contribute in return. Unfortunately, there's only just so much time....

I got my MS wheel swapped out and due to the recent price drop, actually made money on the deal, even after adding the new 2yr warranty ( ninety days, I don't think so )

I did notice that there are a couple of subtle differences in the new unit. The buttons have a better feel to them, most noteably, the d-pad ,which was somewhat notorious on the early version.

Also, the there is much more rotational resistance in this wheel, even with the unit unplugged. I can't tell whether this is is due to a motor 'upgrade', a closer lash tolerance in the gearing, or something else but, it was significant enough that I went into the options and lowered the FFB settings some to compensate.

The wheel is nicely centered and no problems yet to report. I have yet to test with the headset tho...

Was running TT @ Mugello last night and in a search for more speed, I decided to turn on ghosts and downloaded one from the top 20. I quickly remembered why I don't do ghosts. Between the DLO ghost, my personal best ghost and my session best ghost, there were times where I couldn't even see the apex for the upcoming corner! Rediculous excuse for an AID, at least let me select which ghosts I want to see and which one's I don't!

After the TT, I brought my newly tweaked Ferrari back over to Exh for a 5 lapper and quickly knocked about 3 seconds off my previous best run but, after taking another couple of shots at it without improvement, I noticed that my best laps were always my last. Figuring that this was most likely a symptom of tire pressure issues, I added 1 pound to the fronts and reran. I noticed immediately the improvement in front grip and steering response. Took another two seconds off my race time.

I guess I needed that little reminder not to take the little things for granted. A new run at the Mugello TT will have to wait until round two though.

Due to recent events at work, I will be able to spend significantly less time lurking about on the forum during weekdays. I may sneak a peek in during my lunch break but, that's about it.

After working on computers all day, I usually have no enthusiasm for turning on my computer at home at night so, my presence may be somewhat limited for awhile.

My wife and I are expecting our second child, a boy this time, in about two weeks. I am planning on taking a couple of weeks off from work to help out around the house while the missus recoups so, you might see a little more of me then...

I wish MS or somebody would come up with a similar configuration for the xBox/Forza.  I like the stick off the wheel.

Good luck new "one"... ;D

Let's say that management has become more serious about monitoring non-business related browsing.

I like my job too much to want to give anyone an excuse to fire me ( despite doing a great job otherwise )
