The Paint Shop
« on: January 25, 2008, 02:01:00 PM »
Hired a new painter about a week back to start working on some "Smokey Exclusives".  He's slow but pretty good.  Many thanks to Tonka who is the logo master.

As new designs are finished they will be posted here.  Anyone wanting a copy let me know and I'll hook you up.  I may ask you to send me the car if it's a pricier model as I've been doing a lot of hotlapping and exhibition running lately and haven't been earning any bacon.... :(

Looks sharp. I especially like the transition from gold to black along the side.

Green calipers ???

Nice looking car.  Did I see that in the FM.net weekly paint shop contest?

Poor quality photo because they are yellow.  Unless my own rods and cones are going south.... :-\

Yessir you did.  Now, I've entered that contest numerous times and can't win crap so I'm not holding my breath.  I saw your entry and was impressed.  All I want is a freaking 35th Camaro.  Is that too much to ask?   :'(

I got lucky during the Halo launch and picked up all the unicorn cars for not much at all, something like $150K total.  I'm surprised Turn 10 just hasn't thrown them into a DLC pack and put them out at this point.

This is probably the last time I enter a contest over there.  I took some of my Christmas bonus and got a Limited Edition copy of the game off e-bay from a Canadian seller. That finally showed up this week, so I finally have every car in the game available to me.

Send away.  I'll paint 'er up.  Looks better in-game IMO.   I'll even put your name on the roof - American flag next to the name?  Sorry, I couldn't remember where you hail from....

Car sent.  I'm from California.  Seeing as you've not earned any bacon recently is there any car you would like in return for the paint?

FYI, I've also done the designs on the Viper Comp. Coupe and a Lotus Exige for anyone interested.

I spent some time in the paint booth this weekend painting up some Smokey's team cars.  Mainly because I got in with a group of guys that run a 75 lap enduro on Saturday nights and I wanted to run a common paint theme no matter the track we run.

FYI - Don't try to paint on a Guldstrand.  That car's got some whacky stuff going on with the right side of the car.  All my saved logos would turn inside out, the front air dam cannot be painted at all (notice the blue left over from the original Guldstrand theme) and a few other quirks that made me crazy....

Enjoy....

Big D...I have seen the exact same wackiness on other cars...lettering coming off inverted and reversed...body parts that won't take paint, etc. Pain in the exhaust pipe! Cars look great.

That Exige really looks the part in that livery, good work!

I've also run into the paint shop madness recently, I've got a stingray that turns groups inside out on the right hand side of the car, it seems to just do it on skewed vinals. It has caused my latest paint project to run aground until I can find a fix.  :(

I've got a Cobra R with a Cervini hood that has similar issues.  Everything is backwards and upside down or something on the hood.

Objects in rear view mirror are losing.
