I've been concentrating on getting my C class times in and I'm today at #100 with a total time of 1h18:24 primarly using a Mini Cooper.

I still need to get 13 secs to pick you off Blooze  ;)

My B class time is 1h16:09 which ranks me at #109. Blooze is currently at #110, but the one place is worth 7 secs.

I've got to get my D class times in order as I'm currently ranked at #1,080 with 14 tracks still to post times on.

I finished up D-class today with my Solstice.  That means it took me this long to run all of the tracks in the original car I had the second I started career.  I'm a little slow.   :D  I logged every time on a spreadsheet and I'm currently ranked 160th.  I was able to beat several of my local ghosts, and I ran a few tracks that I have not run in D before.  I was suprised to see that some of my stiffest competition came from a WW Civic that I had built way back when.  If I applied a Blooze Toon to it and tried again I'd bet I could do better.

I looked up into my C-class garage and, well, I don't have any cars that are built to C-class.  Until today that is.  I may see how good my new M3 is instead of the Cobalt that I had wanted to build.

I can't seem to focus enough on this to get out of D class.  I'm currently ranked #129 14 spots behind Blooze.  I still haven't attacked the Ring because it's such a long commitment.  It's almost 20 minutes just to get one decent lap.  Lately I've been trying a bunch of different cars on the rwt's to see what works best on different types of tracks.  I had pretty good success with the Toyota MR-S on twisty tracks.  I also tried the GTi Mk2.  That thing has rediculous amounts of grip but not very long legs.  I need to find a better power car.   Maybe the WW?

Boy, action in D Class sure has picked up.  I dropped from 76 to 116 in just 9 days.  That's 40 positions  :o

I may have to drop back and run those tracks again.  The WW went through quite a few changes from when I started the project and when I finished up C.  I think I could get some more out of it.

That, or I need to power up with a Muscle car for the Nissans, New Yorks and such.

You guys are startin' to press me man...  :-\

I may only run my 500KR through D to try and improve my times on the power tracks but I'm not running through it in anything FWD just yet.  I'd like to see (for personal reasons) how well overall I can do in RWD.  I was very suprised at how well the Solstice did with the modified non aero-tune on it.

It'll be on to C-class very shortly.

Fit, is your 500KR setup posted somewhere?  I thought it was but I can't seem to find it.  I'm looking for a good power car for D.

Nevermind, I finally found it in Spanky's Speedshop.

Its pretty stock for power but it sure beats heading straight for the power cars.  I don't want my fast times to be from leaderboard cars.  Like I said, I'm the wrong kinda crazy.  The KR was initially built for the Ring but it works well for some of the shorter power tracks as well.  I plan to revisit it soon and apply the Blooze Toon, fidgit with the trans a bit and go for broke in D-class.

Sounds good.  I think I'll try it and maybe a Z28 on the Ring and some of the power tracks.

I went and done me a little Leaderboard research...

If your goal is to make it to the top 100 Overall (that is mine) it can still be accomplished with attendance.  Positions 50 - 100 are still open to folks that have tracks that haven't been completed.  The guy at position 100 has a  time of 53 hours plus.

Congrats to Black Bird - he is (at this time) #92.  That is a lot of work folks.  A LOT of work!  Add to that, being fast doesn't hurt.

:D

Here's some stuff...
  • Each Class incorporates 25.5 hrs.  (51 tracks x 1800 seconds per track)
  • Each Class's lap time adds up to a bit more than 1 hour.  If you check the number one guy, he has all 10 classes in times that add up to 10 - almost 11 hours.
  • With 255 total hours for Hotlap, to get into the top 100 requires that you shed 200 hours.
  • Being only able to shed 24 (approx) per class, you have to have worked out at a minimum 8 classes, most likely 9 to get to where you have less than 53 hours.  Past that point, speed starts playing a role.
  • There is a good chance that someone like me better get used to only reaching top 200 ;D

Since 10/28 - just 9 days ago...  there are 29,446 new accounts.  Or at least, new users of the leaderboard hotlaps, which incorporates the entire game.  I find that to be completely and utterly flabberghasting - expecially at this point in the game's life cycle. :o

I think that goes to show that the game still has legs in it. It also rather proves that the game is a lot better than some of the naysayers over at .net would have you believe :)

All i have left is the reverse track for U class and all of R2, which will be done tomorrow. Some of my laps are pure crap, as a lot of the time I am setting them at about 3AM.  :-[ Needless to say, they include a lot of bent walls.

One of the reasons it is taking me so long to get through these this time is I shut 'er down when I get into the one and done mood.  I did that with my hotlaps in Forza I, always with the mind that I would get back and do them better when I "got a 'round tuit."

I am pretty well doing that anyway, when I take after the tracks with a single car.

Like I said - gettin' 'em all done is a lot of work... :D

I found myself doing the same thing on some of the Snakes.  I ended up bunching the tracks into a group of 3-4 and moved around between then until I was satisfied. The only track I didn't run a ton-o-laps on was King Cobra.  My nemesis.

Yesterday I played around a little in D class after getting tired of the Civics on Motegi.  I've pretty much switched to a mode of trying a bunch of different cars, including the high hp Chevelle missle, to see what works best for each track.  My idea being to use the best tool for the job at hand.  I'd only driven the Chevelle on Nissan before but yesterday I tried it on Sunset Short.  It gave me the distinct feeling I was driving on ice.  On the high speed area I'm not sure my rear tires ever gained full traction.  I beat my prior best time but I'm a good ways back from the best leaderboard times.  Driving it is a whole different world from my usual full grip/low hp D class builds but I can see with some practice how you could really shave off the seconds.

Another thing I haven't fully figured out is in the competition between my Civic VTi, Golf GTi Mk2 and my Toyota MR-S each one seems to be best on at least a couple of tracks and I haven't really nailed it down as to why.  Probably doesn't help that I'm no where near as organized as Blooze is.   ;D

Anyway after my weekend experiments I'm now only 5 seconds behind Blooze overall in D class but we've fallen to #138 and #145.  Most of my really bad times are on the reverse tracks where I just can't seem to get motivated especially on some of those snake tracks with the insane runs of sharp turns.  Those drive me nuts.
