The Un-official "Let's Chase Blooze" Hotlap Challenge
« on: November 01, 2007, 06:42:07 PM »
This seems to have started... hmmm.  Well I guess it started over on the Daught Gnet with the RWT challenge, and then gathered a bit of momentum with the WW Civic project.  A number of posts have been popping up discussing it so I thought I would give it its own thread.  And a name. :)

So far I have managed to hit my goal three times.  Get into the top 100 over all for each class.  The date that I hit the goal is listed as well.  They most assuredly are not there now.  There have been 11,000 new hotlap times since Oct 28!   :o  That flat out boggles me...

D Class: 76   Oct 28
I ran D primarily with the WW Civic, then came back through with the VTi Honda on the Snakes and Twisties.  I tried a quickie build of an RWD Acura Integra that went belly up and I shipped the project off to a C Class Round Tuit.

C Class: 81   Nov 1
This one was done almost exclusively with the WW Civic.  I managed to hit top 1000 on most of the tracks in RWT, and top 500 on all the Snakes with it.  There is further discussion concerning this car in its thread.

B Class: 78   Oct 29
I used the VIS Integra with a grip build for the most part.

So there they are.  Come and get me. ;D

This is certainly no attempt on my part to try to point out how good I am.  Specially with BlackBird (Land ST) so firmly and impossibly far ahead of me in each class.  But what would be really cool is for everybody on my friends list to be in front of me, or close to me.  That would be most of, or at least a good part of, all the troops that hang out around here.

Now, that would be neat... :D $

I think a big part of the reason I am so far ahead is I have begun to use the scoreboard cars. I have to knock at least a minute off in D class to become competitive with my team members, which should be possible with some... let me rephrase that... quite a lot, of effort.

Yes it is that - a lot of effort.

I was going to add to my OP, but forgot - that my scores were more a result of tenacity rather than talent...  :-\

Good Job btw - and I see Scotty is closing in on the top 10 in the Time Trials as well.

Thank you! We may be little over a week old, but we already have a great bunch of guys. All fast, and all fun to race with. Flying Scot is like no other; very respectful, and a funny bloke when he wants to be.

3 class top 100s.   Nice job there Blooze.

Three classes to chase now, my thumbs already hurt.  Watch out for me in the slow lane.  I'll get there eventually.

Sounds like I need to add Land ST to my friends list too just to see how far behind I am.

I'll be chasin you in my Solstice in D-class there Blooze.  You and Lands are generally the only guys ahead of me on my friends leaderboard.  Qmole has a solid showing and I hope to be re-running several of my previous tracks to attempt to better them.

I also forgot to mention that I am headed for A Class next.  I plan to be there quite a while in that not only do I have laps to run, but I have two build/test projects going on in A Class, and they are the source of a good deal of my favorite clutter...

One project is ALS cars.  (400 - I don't think the 500 thing is going anywhere... for a while at least.)

The other is the Top 10 AWD QR build off.  Right now I have 16 prospects - and not even half of them are built...  :-\

I ran through my car list and realised that I have ZERO cars built to the top of C-class.  Bugger.  I have a prospect but I have to talk myself into running a FWD.  As I go through the TVR's I'll have a couple prospects for A and S class.  Plus I have my Panoz and CTS-V almost ready to go in A.  Good luck with your AWD's, I don't like them, they bother me.  Perhaps I'll try your top contender when you sort them out.

You're safe from me (for now) Blooze - at the moment I'm aiming for the "100% Career" and "Collect all cars" targets. Then I'm coming after you!  :D

But...., there'll be a twist. I intends to picks me a car completely at random (don't you love random number generators) and run that - don't know what class yet, and if it turns out to be a dog then I guess there'll be a whole load of leftover times blocking it out on some times. But, I well get a round tuit eventually (incidentally, the round tuit I have from when I was younger isn't a coin, but a mug withe the handle on the inside ???)

I like having a nice clean scoreboard actually.  That way my times for these challenges generally show up on live.  I'm sure I'll get to it eventually, but for now I'm happy focusing on whatever challenge comes along.  I had a top 100 D class rollup in the first month for a while.  That was before I got distracted with all this other fun stuff. :)

I took a snapshot of my A Class stats tonight with my overall ranking at 103.

4 down - 6 to go...  :-\

I'm gonna be working through A for a month or so probably - I should be able to get it tightened up pretty good.

It does indeed say "round tuit" on it - in fact there's a full description of what a "round tuit" is and when it is used printed around it. Sadly, it's one of the items which never completed the move out of my parent's house so I can't give you the full gist of it. But, unless it has been broken since I last visited, it is still in one piece. Not very good for tea though - the lack of a handle means it gets a bit hot!  :)

Wow - the thing sounds neat.  It'd make a hell of a conversation piece.  Do you have a digital camera?

It would be cool to have a picture of it as an opening bit on a thread where folks could publish and discuss their various 'round tuit' projects and lists.

I like crap like that... knic-knacs and such that have history and such.

Probably won't get back to it until Christmas so if you want to start up that thread now we'll need something else I'm afraid. The official "round tuit" site only seems to have them with handles on the outside too (although it's not an official round tuit mug I have) - I guess part of that is health and safety) so I can't even show a picture. I did manage to find the text though (although this is from a tea towel it looks familar):

A Round Tuit

At long last we have a sufficient quantity for each of you to have your own. Guard it well. These Tuits have been difficult to come by, especially the round ones. They are indispensable and will help you to become a much more efficient person. For years we have heard people say "I'll do this as soon as I get a Round Tuit". Now that you have a Round Tuit of your very own, many things that have needed doing will get done.
