Spreadsheet Archive (Old)
« on: October 23, 2007, 10:34:43 PM »
These things are going to keep coming up so might as well create a central repository and have just a modicum of version management.  I am going to keep this one locked so it doesn't end up full of OT discussions as we are prone to do.  Whenever a new tool comes along, I am going to add it here so folks can get to it easily.

The first candidate will be the Hotlap Templates.  The tracks in the Type Rankings have been straightened out, and the heading colours changed.  Also, the Snakes sheet has been replaced by an Original Tracks (OT) sheet and a Reverse Original Tracks (ROT) sheet.  The Snakes are a subtotal on these sheets.  At first I had tried to pay no attention to the original tracks... yeah right.  Who was I trying to kid.  Once you get used to updating this each time you finish a race or a hotlap, it becomes facinating to sort on the differnent tracks to see how the order of the cars changes.  Oh, there is a named range on each of the sheets that will hilight the table for sorting.  Remember to tell the sort dialogue that the table has headers or you will have a frickin mess.  (Ctrl-Z is our friend...)

NOTE:  The most recent version of the Template can be found a few posts further along.

What you do is copy the Template to as many intances as you want to track - one for each class.  That is 10 for all of the classes.  I named them "DClass", "CClass", "R2Class", etc.

The command you use for transferring the "Color" to each of the headers is to right click on the destination and select <Paste Special>, then select <Formats> in the dialog box.  Here are the steps...
  • Select the Header Colour you want to track.  Copy the whole cell to the header.
  • Highlight the additional cell in the header that is red and do the <Paste Special><formats> thing.
  • Highlight the entire coloured part of the header on each of the other sheets and the <Paste Special><formats> thing again
  • Replace the "?" with the class designator, "D" or "R2" or whatever...
  • Replace my GT with yours
  • In the RWT sheet is an additional GT, you can use that to put a Friends times into - it creates a hit list for you.  The same principle would be used in the other sheets if you want to that.

Paste Special is used quite a bit in maintaining these spread sheets.  For instance, <Paste Special><Values> is how you take a snapshot of calculated data.

I am attaching my D Class sheet.  Included is my WWCivic car sheet so that the links for that car are not broken.  I will have to disconnect all the other data that you see there so the whole thing doesn't show up as broken links.  The data in the Stable sheet all comes from car sheets in other files.

Any how, it should give you an idea how I am using it.

Here is an explanation of the colours used in the times section...
  • grey - times that were set before the purge.  You may or may not find them in the Local section of your leaderboard screen.
  • Black - times set in Test Drive.
  • Bold Black - times set in Free Run, Career, Time Trial, On Line.
  • Bold Teal - The best time for the track.  This is the time that should show up in the roll up below.
  • Bold Blue - If the best time is top 1000.
  • Bold Pink - If the best time is top 500
  • Bold Black on Gold - If the best time is top 100

Grey and Strikethrough car names means the car does not exist physically in the garage.  If the text is not coming from a car sheet, it means the car has never been built but is planned.  It may or may not be owned.

If you get to looking the Car Sheet over, be very careful - I need to protect that.  There are functions every damned place on that sheet - some are meant to be overwritten and some not.  If folks want it, I will post the Car sheet in a different thread and create a tutorial on using it.

For the truely insane, I have included the spreadsheet that I use to track my position on the leaderboards.  Once again, careful here.  There's unprotected functions all over the place.

This is the time sheet template with the new tracks added.

If you have an existing time sheet and don't want to loose your data, you can modify the existing RWT sheet by...
  • Hilight the 4 columns after Leguna Seca
  • Right click and choose insert.
  • Copy-Paste the track names from the RWT sheet in the template.
  • Copy-Paste on of the grayed 1800 values to all open cells in the time sheet, and into the default times row.
  • copy the roll up formula to the four additional cells.  Also copy the diff function.
  • If you have done it correctly the total seconds for the RWT tracks should be 37800, and your current roll up time should have increased by 7200 seconds (2 hrs.)
  • There is no need to reset the row ranges.  Inserting the new columns takes care of that automagically.

This template superceeds the one in the first post.  I didn't remove it because there may be some silly folks out there that will refuse to pony up with the bux to buy this DLC.

This is my Car Sheet Template.  You want to make a copy of it for each car you build.  I store them in appropriately named work books...

A-Asia.xls for instance.  Guess what cars I would find in there.

This spreadsheet is not complicated, but it is busy.  Some of the stuff in there is legacy crap that I haven't decided what to do with yet...  :-\

Look it over, look over the one that is filled out in the D leaderboard example in the previous post.  I am going to start a discussion, Q&A thread for this sheet, and the leaderboard sheet.

[Edit= ": changed the format of the 'Post Wb' Adjustment values.  The template has been updated."/]

2/13/08:  There is a newer version of the template further along...

From the desk of TheJohnNewton (TJN or Newt... :) )

Updated "Blooze Toon" spreadsheet calculator.

To support variations on the standard Blooze Toon I added the following optional entries to the calculator:

1) % Increase in spring rates
2) % Increase in ARB values
3) % Increase in damper values

So, for example, if you want to run a basic Blooze toon but want to use 10% stiffer spring and 5% stiffer ARBs than stock the calculator can now handle those calculations for you.

These are links to my Kitchen Sink spreadsheets.  They will be up until my ISP deletes them...

The original Kitchen Sink (feuerdog Calculator)

The new improved Kitchen Sink Mark II with WB Tuning and DLC cars  <-- I'll be working on some updates to this one this afternoon.

Here are a couple work ups on Tonka's calculations based on his spreadsheet of car parameters and graphing them.

The first (TonkasToy.xls) produces spring rates based on the calculations.

The Second (TonkasToy2.xls) produces spring rates based on the SWR.

If that is all sort of strange sounding then I suggest that you acquaint yourself with the Wb thread starting at around page 10 and out...

This is my new Car Sheet

There is a template that can be used for each of your cars.  There is also a filled out example, my S Class 330 P4.

There is a thread started specifically for answering questions about these sheets.  This thread is locked for version management reasons, so ask any questions you have in the afore mentioned thread.

From the Desk of: Newt (TJN)

Tonka Toon Update.

This is a new version of my Blooze Toon spreadsheet.  This sheet is intended for those who want a simplified version of the tuning sheets (simple compared to Blooze's full Car Sheet or Tonka's Kitchen Sink) as it contains only the info you need to calculate the basic toon.

Changes:

The Blooze Toon portion is unchanged.
I have added a new sheet based on the latest and greatest Tonka Toon calculations being discussed in the forum.

This is the latest and greatest version of me leaderboard sheets supporting the changes in the QR makeup.

On the Stable Sheet there are two new columns labeled D and L.  D column is for the car's Drive position - this comes from cell B36 on the car sheet.  The L (for Level) comes from cell M1.

Any questions?  Feel free to ask in the Q&A thread.

This set of leaderboard sheets also contains the new Goal setting mechanism.

From the desk of GBO Possum

OK, the Career Planner is complete, or at least ready for beta testing!

It is attached and is intended to help you to track the progress against each of the career events, and provide answers to the following questions:-

How much more driving time do I have before I complete all Career events?
What will my final Career Time be when I finish?
Will I end up in the Top Ten?
What do I have to do to be ranked in the Top Ten in the world?
What is the best time in each event?
What car did the hottest player use in that event?
If I was to re-run an event, which event should I choose to gain me the greatest reduction in my overall Career Time?

In the ZIP file attached, you will find two Excel files.  The "Example" one contains some of my own data so you can browse through the sheets and charts to see where it will take you.  The "Master" file is for you to enter your own data into.

Please Protect the sheets "Overview" and "Race List" before using, and this will simplify your navigation when you start to use the sheets.  Protection will allow you to use the Tab key to go from cell to cell, but only the cells that you would normally change.

Please feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements.

This is the gear calculator mentioned in the spreadsheet thread.

It is pretty much self explanitory.

If not, then ask...
