Missed this place
« on: August 29, 2010, 07:00:24 PM »
Just sprung for internet at the house.  First time to have it at home in close to a year, I guess.  Just wanted to say I missed you guys.  Hope you'll let me sneak back in to the mix, if that's cool.

Start in F class.  Lock yourself in the basement with your xbox.  Come out in a year or two.

:D That made me laugh, TJN.
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

I know the feeling! I took the past week off on vacation to waste every bit of time I could. Spent a great deal of time locked in the basement running laps and P2P. I came up for air this past weekend and my wife handed me a flyer from the local Home Depot. Now I'm a hardwood floor installer. Sheesh. :o

This place does, in fact, seem a little slow.  Sad times.   :-\

Where'd everyone get off to?

Good question.  It seems FM3 hasn't generated quite the same interest that the prior versions did.  As far as I figure their odd choice to use hoppers for the online racing and the dominance of AWD cars seem to be the main factors.  Nobody here really got the ball rolling on challenges.  It's pretty much been up to Blooze keeping the lights on and the coffee pot full here.

I'm still planning to get back into FM3 driving as the weather starts getting nasty here (midwest). But I doubt it will ever be at the level it was with FM2. I really enjoyed "the game within the game" and trying to post decent times in all the races and all the classes, the overall career scoreboard, etc. But FM3 is just too big. I just don't have the time to do it right, which takes a lot of incentive out of doing it at all.

Plus I have my personal fleet to look after:

@TJN, I agree that FM3 doesn't have the same mojo that FM2 has. It's tough to describe; there's something missing, though.

Missing....

Local and Career LB's
Custom Public Lobbies
Tuning in all Lobbies

Missed the boat....

Still only 8 allowed in an online lobby.  Makes for a lonely race sometime after lap
Available AWD for 85% of all the cars in the game.  Seriously, an AWD Viper or muscle car?  Ugh......

Unfortunately, the devs. put more time into upgrading the paint shop and storefront than the actual racing part of the game.
