A Hidden Camera?
« on: July 04, 2010, 11:09:42 PM »
At least it is hidden from me.  People are taking pictures in the showroom of the car at all sorts of different angles, like in Forza II.   I have looked and looked and the only place I can take a pic other than in replays is in the MyCars/Take Picture menu item.

Attached is a picture of the Flame Paint I just got from EXOR Metal Burn (Drift?).  Every picture I have taken for my Tooner Sheets the car is framed and positioned identically.

The other picture was snagged off the net (Community Photos), sort of like proof that somebody is getting different angles on their rides...

Anybody know where this Camera is?

I want to say the option is there when you go to select the car.  Once you have the car you want a photo of, try pressing "A" and see if an option is there to take a photo of the car..  Its something along those lines anyways.

Rereading your question, are you looking for ways to get around the car in that white space photo mode?  If so, try any combination of clicking and toggling the joysticks.  Both do differing camera moves and will probably pull off the view you're looking for.  Holding down one while pressing the other any number of directions should zoom and pan, and holding the other will do another variety of moves while you press the non-held stick any direction.  Sorry if my response isn't clear, I've been drinking a bit today/yesterday.

Blooze, these pics were taken in My Cars/Take Picture. I could rotate on all axis'. I could take rear quarter or overhead angle, etc. I used the right joy stick on the controler. Is that what you want or is there another type of angle you are looking for. Or, is there a test you would like me to do to see if this is what you are looking for.

Cheers!

Hah!!  And Aha!  That is what I was looking for.  There doesn't seem to be a substitute for the Right Joy stick on the Wheel.  I tried the flappy shifters and the throttle and brake - nothing.  I don't know that I have ever used the controller for taking pictures there.  I usually only start with a controller when I want to take a picture out of a replay, or when I am going to be doing some painting.

Thanks a bunch, Barumba...  the mystery is solved.

See?  I catch on quick... sort of.

Glad to help. I came across that out of sheer frustration. Trying to paint/take pictures with the wheel was a waste of time, extremely limited. The menu icons at the bottom of the paint and picture screen looked more like controller controls, chuckle, so I gave that a try. Eureka!
Some of the more proficient painters and photogs out their must think we're a pair of dunderheads.
Speaking for myself, not far from the truth.  ;D

I believe I have that grouped together so that you can change the colors to whatever the best combo will be with the base paint. Just ungroup once or twice. It should have sub-groups with each individual colors. Just use change the color on each sub-group and it will do all at once. Once I like the colors, I just regroup them back. The paint editor is infinitely more usable than FM2.

I tend to leave the red and orange alone for the most part. But I do reserve the right to change the outline/pin stripe to another color. The baby blue just pops better on a black car. I tried a bright green but its not doing it for me. A pink or lavender doesn't really stand out as much, but adds a "warmth" to the red. I can't explain it. You just have to fool with the pin color on each car. I have done that too much during this last weekend.  :D

I need to actually upload some FM3 pics. I have a '10 Camaro with the orange removed and looks pretty nice. Awesome that one flame sits right over the Camaro on the front fender. I need to locate around the GT like that.

I do have a fade/real flame style too. I'm not partial to up turn flames. I thought flames were to make your car look like its doing 200 standing still. So mine look like the space shuttle on re-entry.  ;D

@Blooze, I spent a bit more time tonight with the controler, controling (chuckle) camera angles in replay. Left and right joy sticks, and direction pad, and brake triggers, all give a multitude of angles, zooms, and skews.
Only took 5 years to figure that out. :-\

Having to swap between controller and wheel kind of chaps my butt... I am fairly certain they could resolve that if they cared to.

@ Drift - that light blue pin striping is one of the real cool things about those flames.  It is that that allows me to get away with adding red flames to a Black Cherry Pearl paint job - which ends up looking pretty cool in my book.

Later I am going to try some stuff like powder blue colours in the flames for a white car...  give it a fire and ice kind of look, or something like that.  Lavender and blue would look cool on a green car.  See, I can be artistic...

Drift, that touch of blue really adds some very hot and realistic affect. Like a welder or plumber's torch, they look for the purest burn, nothing but oxygen. That blue tip is the hottest spot, leaving the impurities behind. Very cool. Blooze, fire and ice, great analogy.

That blue is for an oxy torch or brazing.

No oxygen when welding. It blows pinholes and splatters horribly. I know I ran out of gas today.

That's where the Metal Burn comes from. I'm a welder. Big fat load of nothing it did. Everyone in EXOR still calls me Drift. lol

I'm posting new paints in my shop tonight. Find something you like, ask. Need FR though for some of ya.

No debate Drift. I am a bit of an old fart and when I think of welding, I think of oxyacetylene welding. That's what we were taught in shop class back in the '60's. No matter. I'm still liking that dichotomy, the tension, of the heat of the red and the cold of the blue in your flames. Really draws the eye.
Cheers!
