Stock Cars on Road America.
« on: June 19, 2010, 09:57:29 AM »
Shucky Darn... I wish I'd been a bit more aware of the TV schedule - could have been a bit more timely with this.

The challenge is just that.  Or even better.  In R3, I call them National Cars and I have them all grouped together in an R3 Subclass.  American Stock Cars and Australian Super V8s.  I don't know yet if they are competitive with each other but we shall find out...

The cars can be upgraded as much as you can get them upgraded.

There are three tracks...
  • Road America
  • Laguna Seca (Sonoma substitute)
  • Maple Valley (Watkins Glen substitute)

Let's see some of them NASCAR lookin' liverys as well...

If you’re gonna jump then jump far, fly like a sky diver
If you’re gonna be singer then you better be rock star
If you’re gonna be a driver then you better drive a race car

I noticed Barumba left the restrictor on his build keeping it to [R3-731].

Blooze, you said upgrade the car as far as it can go. Are these builds to follow the spirit of stock car racing or can we go the extra (0.25) mile? ;)

Funny, I took upgrade to mean "add on", didn't occur to me to take something off. LOL.

I have all of mine built without the Restrictor plates - all out.  My own reasoning is that I don't care to carry two toons for each of the R# cars.

Well, I got to haul the Montecarlo back to the shop and do some adjusting...  it is a tad more oversteerish than I like...  enough so that I am adjusting myself to keep the rear end in check all the time.

(RA; MV; LS)
Montecarlo SS: 124.124; 89.731; 86.162 (RA; MV; LS)

Good job Barumba, jumping right on this...

The Leaderboard is up to date at this point.

Well, in anticipation of Blooze confirming the all in and all out upgrade, I re-built the Chevy this AM over a cup of coffee.
New build of the Chevy, will post new times later.

                 Plate           No Plate
HP               849              899
TQ               669              708
Weight         3386            3369
PI                RI 731          RI745

That makes enough of a difference so will re-run my Chevy tonight. The Holden might not be happy with the results. But for now, I have to go for dinns.
Cheers!

PS, I also upgraded drive shaft and went with lightest rims to further reduce weight.

OK, new times for the Restrictor Free Chevy:

RA         128.789

LS           89.926
Total     307.191

Still short of my Holden.

How does one go about looking up the Leaderboards for specific cars. I know how to "X" button my way through the drivers (get to friends, etc.), know how to get to the tracks as well. But is there an option to look up by a specific car or class to see how it stacks up?
Thanks, and Cheers!

I'll play, nothing better than running the Stock cars on a road course, I haven't really played with upgrading the R cars much so these times are with a stock PI713 Dodge, the redheaded step child of the stock cars.

MV 87.601 (an old time I set during the EXORCAR series over at Exodus)
RA 127.768
LS 86.274

301.643

And a couple pics of liveries (all dodge at the moment).

Hey, Are Doubleya, great liveries. Nice work!

Thanks Barumba, they're all left over from EXORCAR which was a blast (probably gonna have to do another one come fall).  They're all in the storefront I believe.

If anyone wants a copy let me know, they are all for the Dodge but I don't think it would be too big a deal to throw them on the Ford or Chevy.  Or if you want a different number or something 65  is my number over at Exodus so pretty much every livery I have has that number.
