I've learned a lot since signing on to this wonderful (sincerely) forum. Something new almost every day. Today I learned a very valuable lesson...when to keep my big mouth shut! Holey qwap, when I thought it was 50 odd races, I was up to the challenge. But, at close to ten times that many, no way Jose. When Blooze called us on it and basically said "put your money where your mouth is", I had to take a long look at if I was prepared to commit.
I think my wife, life and dog would have something to say (not necessarily in that order).

I don't want to turn my very high level of enjoyment of the game into a chore not to be looked forward too.
So, with tail tucked neatly 'tween legs, I respectfully (and sheepishly) bow out of the BCG challenge.
I like my little G37, but fear would soon learn to hate it with what would amount to way too much time, for me anyway, behind the wheel of that single car. Not to mention the saddle soars. Ouch.

I will take a crack at some of the tracks and follow your advice, Blooze, and spend some time in Private Race to gather up some coin, though.

You guys enjoy, now.

Cheers!

I can understand your reticense and I don't blame you a bit.  I have done this sort of thing before - in every game since Sega2000 - how far can you get with just one car?

However, I think you have associated a sense of urgency to this little activity that isn't there.  Nobody is saying shut down and do only this.  I am only working on it one or two weekends a month.  I don't know if FeureDog, Fit, Spiny and the others have scheduled their time for this, but I'm fairly certain it will be somewhere in that neighborhood.

I figger we should still be cussin', discussin, and working on the BCG a year from now, or when Forza IV comes out.  It is just a project... not a challenge with a time limit.

Hope that helps some...

Phew, the pressure's off. Yup, I'll participate, given the time line (or, should I say, lack of). I love the friendly competition and camaraderie here. It would be a shame to miss out.
Thanks, Blooze.

Too true about me planning on taking my time. First thing for me is to run the final Targa Forza in the Spiny tune/Blooze gears combo 370Z to see if I can beat the existing times. After that, I will be doing the QR, but probably no more than one class a week.

I have decided though that I will limit 4WD running to R3 only (and possibly one other class to get a 4WD-RWD comparison). I've tried to avoid drivetrain swaps for the most part, and feel that it would be counter to my ethos for the game to go hell for leather with a 4WD 370Z, even if that does cost me in the lap charts.

I have constantly waffled back and forth between using the fact that you can have a single copy of a car and move it between classes or having a different copy for each build. If I only have one then I forget what builds I like and where I like to use it. If I am in E class and step into my E Class garage and a car is not there because I currently have my F build on it then I will not remember that it is my favorite E class car. This means that I currently I am using a different copy of each car for each build/class. Because I have switched back and forth between methods several times I have sold off versions of my Miatas that have had earnings and wins so this is the most info I have for it but it is less than the complete picture.

Warped's 1994 MX-5 Miata Gen 1

Total Garage Value of Miatas(4) - 218,300
Total Winnings - 1,591,893
Wins  - 48
Podiums -115
Races - 145

I have no clue as to how much has been lost with cars I have sold.

24  Personal Best times in F Class.(Many of these could be beaten by my Elan but I would rather drive the Miata, and the Miata is only a tick slower on many tracks and could own few of the Elan's times.)

Here's some FYI stuff I have picked up about the way money is handled in the game.

  • Selling a car does not reduce the Total Winnings number on your Profile page, nor does buying a car with winnings associated with it.  To the best of my ability I have found that only the first screen of the End of Race dialog has access to that value.  (and the Milage value.)
  • You do lose, however, leveling (XP) points when you sell a car.  But then on the plus side, you get them if they are attached to a car that you buy or are gifted.
  • Milage associated with a car and the Distance Driven value on the Profile Page seems to have nothing in common with the mileage associated with a lap.  One of the worst offenders is the Nurburgring.  It is off by almost 2 miles.

I have a "Car Sheet"  associated with every car that I drive.  I always have the Class Office and the Class Garage that contains that car open.  Therefore, any time that money screen shows up, I capture the data on that class/car's Sheet.  The total amount for the car is rolled up on the sheet that contains the purchase information (car and parts cost) - usually the base class for the car.  For instace, the money for the 330 P4 in S class is rolled up onto the car's sheet in the Museum class.  This way I can track the money for a single car across any number of classes, and toons.  The Peugeot 207 has AWD and FS sheets in E, D, C, B, and A classes - and I know how much each instance has earned.

I have thought about sharing this contrivance but is somewhat complicated with file links in multiple directions and I would play hell getting it all explained.  Just look at my record for documenting the car sheet as an example...

The wins and money posted above is from the history of the actual cars, I do not have information on the ones I have sold and I have had other '94 Miatas. I get that your total career money winnings and race totals would not change when you sold a car but I would figure that each car would  have its own totals that would you would not know if you sold it. If I only had one car and slapped on the appropriate tune for the class I wanted to run it in then all of the race stats and money would show up in that cars history but I have not done that and so I have to add them together and wonder what I gave away.

BucksToon reporting here:

Well, that was an industrious outing...  I got to run for more than a weekend for a change.  I managed to get all of C Class done with the GSX.  And I mean, all of C Class.  Career races, Drag, Oval, the whole 9 yards.  Made about a million and a half doing it too.

So it ends up that Blooze is a little faster than me on the FIL stuff - QR, and Targa and the like, but I am faster than him in Circuits and P2P overall.  I really hammered his butt on the Snakes.  I imagine he will be out to rectafy that real soon.

Anyways, in C the GSX currently ranks...
  • Circuits - 232
  • P2P - 108
  • Drag - 1605
  • Oval - 599

Not too bad for One Car, One Toon.  A guy could do worse.

And it is looking pretty nifty due to Drift's new flame paintjob design!

;D $

PS:  Next time the reins are turned over to me I'm gonna work on finishing up the E Class stuff...

Nice work in C Bucks/Blooze.

I have to confess that this one has gone well onto the back burner as I've been chasing down F Class in a variety of metal, and for obvious reasons my BCG has been ineligible. And having just signed up to a chapionship series which is likely to lose me up to 3 nights a week, I suspect I may have to cede on this one. I just won't have time to prove the merits of the 370Z :'(

Well don't worry about it Spiny...  I know how it goes for Forzapation, sometimes you just can't do 'em all.  I had a plan to run your car in A and S, and Stank's Ferrari in S and R3, so we'll have some sort of an idea at any rate.

The thing I like about the GSX is that I'm not tired of it yet.  Some because I think it looks good, and some cause in all of its classes it has a chance of coming out with my personal best on almost any track.

Another reason is that I am getting 5 classes of high level participation for just $160,000 and will have won in excess of $7 Million with it.

Then there is the Bucks Leveling up too - and having won and auctioned all those cars - there is a pretty good pile of cash right there...

Man, I love this game...

I have not put much into this either, maybe because I specialize my cars so much and like to have different cars for different classes. There are so many good cars that is one way for me to have some diversification. At the most I probably use a car in three different classes.

Yup, I understand what you are saying there Warped.  That probably accounts for a pretty fair number of the cars that are in my Blooze garage - diversification.

However, this thread is about finding the Best Car in the Game.  And one of the meaurements is how much can it be used, and how much is it used.  So I try do devote a weekend or two a month to the little car.  And I am usually rewarded for my effort.

Hmmm, anybody up for designing a BCG badge that could be displayed on the side of a car?

Designing is not one of my fortes but if someone did I would be proud to display it on my car.

I recently got a-holt of the driving system and was able to hang on to it long enough to finish off A Class in its entirety, sort of like I did in C.  This means all the Career races as well as all four A Class leaderboards.

For the time being, I am sitting atop the Blooze Chasers A Class board in Circuits and am #2 on the P2P board.  But, I have a long, long ways to go on the Big Board, and Blooze is so damn stingy with the drive time.

Money wise, the GSX has now pulled in something like $3.5 Million from winning 348 races.  That involves driving 2835 miles.

The car is really handling well and plans for a Paint Design are taking shape.  The word is that Blooze is rebuilding the base GSX and the next build is going to be quite a bit different.

I think I will be headed for either E or D class.  Hell, maybe they'll gimme a chance to finish up the B class.  Who knows...

I had to sweep the floors up around the shop today...

I d'ruther be racin'  :(

Things conspired with other things and I ended up building out the B Class GSX with the Stock Transmission build.  And once again, a faster car with the same amount of grip.

That pretty well tears it as far as I am concerned.  D Class is the first place I can implement the build, and I will propogate it on up through A.  I had an idea of a Power Build and a Grip Build, but there is no place that the Grip Build holds an advantage over the Power one.  So I am back to one setup per car again, only it is the stock transmission one.

BucksToon is working on E Class this week.  Gonna get it all done and then take stock.
