My current favorite car in the game, and weapon of choice in career at the moment, is the 2002 Pontiac Firebird WS6.  It starts out with some serious tire width and plenty of power so it takes platforming in stride without the need to compromise grip or power to get some goodies.

I've build it out to the top of D class and ran it around a bit in whatever career races it qualifies for, except the endurance races.  It set an early pace in my Competition choices for the last daught net entry but was eclipsed by my Prelude and could never recover from the Asian assault.  Put both cars on the Ring and it tells a different tail.... Pontiac hands down.

I'll get some numbers together as I prepare to use it as the first D class car to complete the FIL circuits.  It runs good, grips well, and sounds great wound up.  Easily top 10 in my garage.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

A car I have used a lot is the '94 MX-5 Miata.

It has the classic roadster look which makes it iconic, plus there are a couple of body kits available to give some variety in visuals.

It does not have an AWD swap which is a plus in my book. It will not be competitive against AWD cars in the upper classes, but holds its own admirably in the lower classes against all competition and is competitive with most RWD cars in the uppper classes. It can be built up to R3. I was surprised to find I have a couple PB's in it in A Class. I have many, many PB's in it in the lower classes.

There are many, many diverse ways to build the car up once you get into D class you can build everything from extreme handling versions to speedier all around versions.

A Rotary will fit into it in D Class. ;D

In brief it is versatile, fun, competitive and looks good while doing it. :)

Alrighty then...  time to get a little organization into this project.  For those of you who don't know, I have been relegated to Admin duties for this BCG Project, and BucksToon (we just call him "Buck") will be driving the car and working with B2 Racing, and B2 Engineering on the car's development for the various Class versions.  I will add Buck's report from his first weekend in a later post.

The cars range from mostly low end items from the '80s and '90s to a 2010 Ferrari that was nominated so skillfully and passionately that I had to go and buy myself one immediately - even tho I am sort of broke (now I am broker...)

So, here's who we got and what they are driving, what they claim is the BCG, the Best Car in the Game:

Car
Sponser
1995 Mitzubishi Eclipse GSXB2 Racing/BucksToon
2010 Nissan 370ZSpiny Anteater
2010 Ferrari 458 ItaliaPureStankonia
1984 Toyota Celica SupraFeureDog
1984 Toyota Celica SupraOpen2nd
2008 Infiniti G37 SportBarumba
2002 Pontiac Firebird TA RAFit4aKing
1994 Mazda MX-5 MiataWarped Passage
xx
xx

Now, there is what everybody thinks is the best car in the game.  Not much in the way of proof, is there.  Whenever anybody gets into one of those "who's the best" discussions in a bar or a where-ever, somebody always tosses in irrefutable factoids, and, tho the others are not convinced, they are at least quieted somewhat.  We need some factoids...

Let's start with the QR, and QR2 for each class that the car competes in.  For me, that will be E, D, C, B, and A and maybe S.  That list will be different for each of you.

Then lets do the Targa run for each class...

That will do for a start.

Anybody agree?  Anybody got a different idea?

BCG Report - B2 Racing / BucksToon

This is my first report for this outfit, and I'm told that it most definitely won't be the last.  They're big on reports around here from what I've heard.  So be it.  Reports they want, reports they get.

The build for the B Class car is based on a 50/48 Tonka Toy calc, along with what has been dubbed "The Spiny Mod"  I'll let Blooze tell you more about that later.  He gets all excited and talking too fast when he gets to explaining his calculater and it gets hard to understand him...

I mostly drove what they got that herd of engineers building for me and try to keep up with the paper work.

So, the QR report...  It does pretty good on the QR tracks.  It shows a tendency to be a bit stronger on the more technical tracks - it gives away a little on the power tracks but can still hold it's own.  Here's what I have so far - I'll be working on different portions of the QR whenever we are working at a QR track.

1995 Mitzubishi Eclipse GSX - QR Report
Cls PI     Atl II       Seb II      Tsukuba         QR
B
500
60.015
80.086
60.039
200.140

We ran the full QR set and compared the numbers to the Blooze46 line up.

1995 Mitzubishi Eclipse GSX - QR2 Report
Cls PI      Flow        Twist        Power        Total
B
500
155.102
184.411
205.375
544.888

Here's how it compares to the 20 other cars tested there...
  • QR - 6th
  • FR - 4th
  • TR - 2nd
  • PR - 3rd
  • Total - 3rd

For an all-arounder build, that is pretty good.

And here is the Targa Report.  This needs a lot more running to get used to the car on the tracks.  I got hurried up because the bookkeepers found a SNAFU in the data collection system and they shut me down till they get that resolved.

1995 Mitzubishi Eclipse GSX - Targa Report
Cl Pi   Ring      Kaido     Positano    Targa
B500
538.421
534.600
407.573
1480.594

But, under my modified directive I am not just to go run their tests in a different account, but to also find out how far I can get in the Game itself using just the GSX.  I am looking forward to it.  I like winning the cars.

;D

PS: I've attached all the files I used to generate these reports.  They can be used together, or used separately, and since the data is not extensive, it can be stored in the BCode of the text files.  It is up to you - I like using the .xls file, and if one is unemcumbered by a go-zillion spreadsheets like I am, then the BCG.xls makes a dandy data collection devise as well.  Or you can sort out how to collect and and report the data anyway you want, for that matter.  You see what we want to see...

To ensure an impartial evaluation maybe I should send by car to Buckstoon and have him do all the driving.

Blooze is swamped, but Bucktooth is only tackling one project right now, right?

Sounds good, although it may take a little time for me to complete.

Much as I hate to suggest it, is the 4WD swap permitted? That could bring the Nissan right up I suspect.

QR on the 458 is in:
183.330
Amafi: 62.763
Atlanta II: 56.063
Sebring Short: 71.841
These were set with 10 lap sessions.  Before you think lightning bolt lap, consider that I'm not that great a driver lately, I could still see tenths here and there to be picked up by said bolt.  Coolest thing of the night: with the wide tires and no tcs it likes to slowly kick out the tail when cornering full throttle but if you straighten the wheel she hooks right up, like ok, NOW GO!  I giggled more then a few times when I heard the rpms go from rev limiter to a growling hook up.  I must be imaging it but it felt and sounded like she gets a little hp boost whenever I did this ala the hop-slide in mario kart.  I'll try to get a replay with this to see if anybody else notices or if its just one of those, "you gotta be in love" things.

That's 54 races? We'll have to de-tune and re-tune for each class.

And for clarification, please list the tracks for QR (I figure I know them) and QR2 (not so sure).

54 Races?!  Oh no, no, no...  it will take much more than that to prove that your selection is worthy to be called the best car in the game.  I have 413 on the GSX right now and figure that I have less than 40% of what I have planned for the car, finished.

Remember now, we are claiming to have chosen the best car in the game - the GAME!  You, for intance, have chosen the Infiniti G37 Sport Coupe as the best car in the Game.  The Best Car in the Game... you don't get to make such a claim without something to back it up.  Prove to me that it is the best car in the game.

How much of the game could you complete using just the G37?  How well could you complete it?  In order to convince me that the G37 is the BCG you would have to be able to show me that the extra weight that it is packing is not a problem, that it can handle Kaido and Positano.

I will eventually propose that the cars be put through the rigors of the FIL...
  • QR2 - 9 tracks
  • Targa - 12 tracks
  • RWT - 22 tracks
  • Big Lap - 7 tracks

Note that the FIL also includes the Ovals (5) and the Snakes(18)...

That is 50 tracks per class...

You might as well test those in a Private Race because I will eventually bring up the money.  How much have you earned with what you call the BCG?  How far have you driven it?  As of this morning I have earned $3,682,396 credits with the GSX and driven it 2629 miles.  I expect Buck will exceed those numbers by more than just a little bit.

When you make a claim such as this - the Best Car in the Game, then you should probably be able to cover more than 1 or 2 classes and cover them well.  The tuning for different classes is made quite simple by the Update Manager.  I have used it constantly since the game came out and it has given me no problems at all.

All the business concerning the QR and the QR2 is in the locked thread at the top of my Garage here - is is entitled "Thawts and Other Stuff"

Now you may be thinking "Bloody Hell!!  That's a lot of work!"  and rightly so.  It is a lot of work.  And not to be taken lightly.  You are trying to prove that your car is the best car in the game.  You are holding its honor in the seat of your pants...

From FIL topic:

The idea behind it is to have a repeatable Season that can be run on a class by class basis - in leau of running through the Season Master's idea of a Season in the Game.

Basically, it is all the Real World Tracks in the game, except the RWT in the QR system.
Even more basically, here is a list of the tracks and the number of laps run for each race.

Catlunya GP - 5
Catlunya Nat - 5
Catlunya School - 5
le Mans New - 3
le Mans Old - 3
le Mans Bugatti - 5
Leguna Seca - 5
Mugello Full - 5
Nurb' Ring GP Full - 5
Nurb' Ring GP Short - 5
Road America - 5
Road Atlanta - 5
Sebring Full - 5
Sebring Club - 5
Silver Stone GP - 5
Sliver Stone Int - 5
Suzuka Full - 5
Suzuka West - 5
Tsukuba Short - 5
Montegi Road - 5
Montegi East - 5
Montegi West - 5

That is 22 races.  When run in the Private Session against 7 AI opponents and a 40% bonus this "Season" yields $374,500 Credits and 267,500 XP points (in case your car needs to be leveled up - much more than enough).

Along with the activity, this provides...
  • Like the QR system, it provides a means of comparing cars in a class.
  • It replaces the local leaderboard that has gone missing in version of the game.
  • Leaderboard tracking for the tracks that I care about the most.
  • Because the races are consistent, the money can also be tracked on a car by car, class by class basis.  For me, it is another tidbit of creating a virtual Racing Franchise - ya gotta keep track of the money.

I am considering altering what I have written here in this manner.  The Forza Independent League would be comprised of (at this time) four separate systems.  Not unlike NASCAR and the Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Camper World trucks, ARCA etc...
  • The Above now referred to as RWT
  • QR2 - all 9 of the QR tracks
  • Forza Targa
  • Big Laps - one lap races made up of the Ring, and both of the Kaidos, Positanos, and King Cobras.
It says here that the big laps are one lap races.  Does this mean that they are run from a standing start?  Or first hot lap?  Also:

I will eventually propose that the cars be put through the rigors of the FIL...
  • QR2 - 9 tracks
  • Targa - 12 tracks
  • RWT - 22 tracks
  • Big Lap - 7 tracks

Note that the FIL also includes the Ovals (5) and the Snakes(18)...

That is 50 tracks per class...
Sounds like 73 tracks huh?  Help me out too, cuz I'm down to run this through for my Italia.  Which 5 ovals?  I'm thinking of Highspeed benchmark, Sunset, Sedona, and Twin Ring Motegi.

@FeurePuppy... Thats all any of us can do.  Ole BucksToon is only gonna get a couple weekends a month so it will take a while for him to get this thing done as well...

@PureStankonia... I hadn't considered the Benchmark Ovals...  the five were both Sunsets, both Sedonas and the  one Montegi - add the Benchmarks and that would make 7.  Can you imagine a 10 lap race on those?  I'd fall asleep, I just know I would.

I didn't make the ovals or the snakes a part of the list because I hadn't planned on making them part of it.  I am going to run them, in fact I plan to complete each class that the car runs in, but that is me and my OCD-ishness.  I wasn't going to suggest that others participate in my illness.  ;D

The One Lap Races are just that - like the Game's Big Lap events.  I have them set up as a saved game type in my Private sessions.  They work out mostly like a P2P race when run like that.

Did I mention that after reading your nomination post and watching the video, I went right out and bought one of the damned things too.  Now that I think of it, once I have finished E-A with the GSX, I think I will do S and R3 with the Italia - make it my "Other Best Car in the Game".  Heh...
