Do not underestimate the capabilities of the lil' 22b. It was an early acquisition in the game for me, and even with the outdated tune and build I had on it, it still holds down several PB's for me.

It also happens to be one of my top 5 favorite Forza cars of all time.

In semi-related news,......I ran my little D-class(?) Alfa Romeo around Positano full this weekend, in both directions, and layed down some times that I surprised myself with,.....consider a new gauntlet thrown.

Okay, the Leaderboards are no longer closed.  But they are, hopefully, slowed down.  At any rate, the periodic updates will be more periodic - highly sporadic, even - from now on.  I'm sure you all understand, but just in case you don't, I started working on this latest update 2 hours ago (note the emphasized verb).

You can still post times, cuss and discuss, and such - I'm not closing the thread.  I will update the database when I am able.

I have provided two spreadsheets (one attached to the OP, the other to the leaderboard) for those you who wish to carry on at a more lively speed.  Also, I can see this becoming an occassional Challenge Event, or parts of it...  say, BTCC on Targa Kaido...  or something like that.

What I hope...
  • That you learned something and had fun.
  • That some of you will take the start the Targa gives you and go ahead and finish up the P2P tracks.  It would be so cool to see the top 500 P2P leaderboards peppered with the troops from this board.
  • or, at least, running the Targa becomes a part of your tune/build regimine...

At any rate, keep 'er 'tween the fences and shiny side up...

I'm glad the little car is working out for you Chuck...  and just to emphasize the versatility part, I have builds for the thing from E Class all the way to A...

   Thanks, Blooze, it's been a great find.  I'm working my way back through D with it, and basically destroying the times my Aston DB5 set.

   I was going to ask you about that versatility.  I've found a lot of cars that seem to suffer when you bump them up too far in class.  It's nice to know this car doesn't suffer from that.  I may just knock it back down to E next and see how it compares to my Toyota 2000GT, and then start from C and work up.

   I just looked at my times for the D class with my Mitsu Eclipse GSX, and I had a typo on the Ring times.  Stage C was off, and my times should have read as:

   Nurburgring: 133.634; 125.175; 153.654; 150.134

   Sorry for the confusion.   ???

It should be okay now...

All points apply here, Blooze. The P2Ps were an afterthought until this Targa thread popped up. I won't be posting any more times in this thread but you will be seeing my name creeping up the P2P leaderboards. Thanks again.

Better late than never I have some times to submit.

2004 Mercedes C32 AMG - C425: AWD Conversion, Sport Compound, No Aero, 366hp, 348lb-ft, 3757lb

It's a bit of a beast for these tracks but it seems to work quite well. I spent a lot of time playing with the build and found that the weight reduction wasn't as good as I'd expected, which I thought would be a no brainer for the twisty tracks and the weight of this car. The tyres started as race full width but adding power seemed to show the best results against the clock in my testing.

I wasn't quite sure if people were really going for the best times possible or if it was a first clean run situation. I went with the clean run approach first and then did a bit of trimming off a couple of my less favourable times. I know I could knock some more off still but I am happy enough with where it is currently sitting and I don't have a clue how Bob managed such times in that 22B. He is almost 30s ahead over 12 stages which is quite something in my books. Is this car a leaderboard car in C-class (I'm not really one for following them) or is Bob just superhuman!? Either way I'm not going to catch him in this tank so I'll leave it there.

N = 129.746; 122.356; 147.613; 147.548
K = 131.915; 176.710; 120.854; 118.001
P = 102.402; 83.666; 104.972; 120.387

Which should give me a total of 1,506.170 and put me in second.  ;D

Great idea this Targa Blooze, I will work on some more cars when I get a minute.

It's been fun Blooze, i've bounced off a few barriers though, thats for sure...

I've started to have a bit of a push on the P-2-P stages, I went through and ran the Benchmark drag's in all except X and S class where I don't have any cars at the moment, though I do have an S class build of the Lotus 2-11 saved so i'll put that back on and see if she does as well as the R3 version... X class i'll have to go and take the restrictor off one of my Acura's, I sold all my R1 cars in the AH apart from the Porsche Spyder and the T10 gifted/ painted Acura's.

Aside from B class which I had already done, I've now set times on all the stages in F and D class and working my way through E class with the new Mazda MX5 Superlight.

F Class was a blast, I took out my old Fiat 131 Abarth which had been sitting under a dust sheet at the back of garage since early days and after a bit of a rebuild and retune she was ready to take on the stages, its not quite the fastest out there but its certainly one of the most fun and I think she's still got a little bit of time left in her on some stages.

D Class was all about the little Alfa Giliua on the twisty's, not quite as fast as Blooze's Eclipse on the uphill at Kaido but it stormed back down and around Positano, The Ring stages the Alfa just doesn't have enough speed so I took out the '05 Stang and it really held it's own against the Audi's and Celica's that dominate there.

E class is going well so far with the Mazda, it's similar to the Alfa in that it's not so quick on the uphill but flys downhill and i've got the Lancia Stratos waiting ready to finish off C Class. A class i'm torn between my BMW M3 GTR and Porsche GT3RS for the twistys, but the Bugatti EB110 may get the nod for the Ring stages... above that, except for R3 with the Lotus 2-11 its anybodys guess as i've not really spent much time in the higher classes and like most people, I think, I haven't even set a single time in X Class...

Extra smokey.... now with no assists!

I found out that you can get the Restritor plate of an Acura and still stay in R1 if you forego the wheels.  The Acura is good enough for that X class mess - it's all I used.  I mean, other than the sake of completing it all, who cares?

I hadn't said it but I guess I should - I didn't figure that the R1 or X class cars would be a part of this Targa dealy.  I mean, taking an LMP rig out to do some farm road racing kind of stetches it...

I used the X class as an example one time mostly because it was the only place where I had one car doing it all...

I see ya comin' on the P2P board - when you get 'er down to done I imagine you will be fairly near the top - ;D

Heh, neither I'm afraid.  Bob is pretty quick - but there's a whole bunch quicker...  Spend some time in the Hotlap world of leaderboards and you will see time gaps that make that 30 seconds pale.  For instance, I am currently 29 in the hotlap over all with a 10 18:59.630 - the number 1 guy has a 9 11:51.230.  Quickly, that is 4020 seconds.  :o   The Circuit guy is 2 hrs and 23 minutes ahead of me - and I'm only 52.

I mostly see Stratos and 05 WRXs at the top of the C P2P board.   But the little 22b is quick.  I set a personal best on C class Amalfi in just two laps - running it bone-assed stock.  Under the circumstances, running that Mercedes, you did quite well getting the times you did.

Silvo, the only thing superhuman about me is my Spiderman underoos. I'm not even as quick as many of the posters here. It all comes down to track knowledge. Once you've run as many laps as we have running this targa forza, you'll see your P2P times dive. Just a couple days ago I took a stock Evo VIII up Kaido Stage A and knocked off 10s between my first and my fourth run, and none of the runs felt close to the limit.

It's been fun Blooze - I've always liked Kaido and Positano is in the same mould so no complaints about running these tracks ;D

I can also imagine how much work goes into the spreadsheet, so feel free to ignore yet another B Class set of times from me, but as I'd run them thought I'd add them anyhow. These are in my 370Z which kept pace with the Brera around the 'Ring but lost time on Positano (mainly from the start I think) and more especially on Kaido (where your torque point really came into play). I intend to give your tune a run next week to see how much time I can knock off, and if I can catch the Brera.

Still, times are:

N = 124.491; 117.350; 142.893; 141.408
K = 130.214; 169.653; 119.552; 116.000
P = 99.533; 82.132; 99.650; 115.883

As I said, this is a game not a job so I won't be in anyway offended if you don't update the leaderboards with these times, but by putting them here I can compare you tune when I run it next week 8)

Well, it looks like this challenge is winding down. I'm so happy that my first Targa Newfoundland schedule alert post inspired one of the most fun and most participated challenges yet. And was more than happy to post up the odd web video link, for entertainment and real life relevance.
This Targa was a blast, and thanks, Blooze for keeping track of the best and worst (mine) P2P times. Out of sheer perseverance, I was able to better my own, if not others, best P2P times. I win at being the suckiest driver that ever sucked, but had a whole truck load of fun doing it.  ;D

Cheers!

Well, it looks like this challenge is winding down...

Winding down but not done.  We will still be posting projects of sorts and things like that.  I just don't want to get caught up with some guy trying to get a Targa time for every car in his garage or something - an admirable pursuit no doubt (I have it in mind myself), but like me, this sort of project is best handled privately.

And now, just to show you, and since me and the Eclipse is getting a bit of airplay lately, here's me A Class times for the little cutie... ;D

N = 119.036; 113.831; 136.253; 138.839
K = 121.204; 161.612; 114.965; 110.877
P = 95.963; 76.926; 98.315; 114.081

I have nothing to compare it to - A Class is the biggest mess I got.  Nothing has been completed other than I have a time of some sort on everytrack.

I built the car out with a Cam, one; to get the higher rpms and Hp, and two - to cut down on some of the torque.  it is putting out 402 and 385 respectively now, and with the full WR and everything else that drops weight, the little dood is getting just a tad twitchy.  I've been trying to stay with the same config for each class, but I may have to break that one and do a bit of adjusting.  The DownHill times are a fair testimony to that.

I have the B and C classes to do yet - Lord only knows when I'll get to those.  I got more than a few Forza flavoured irons in the fire right now...

I'm looking forward to the report Spiny.  I've seen your Brera times - taking them down will be no mean feat...
