1.2 Hours of Sebring
« on: March 16, 2010, 10:57:02 AM »
(Originally posted at Old School Speedshop by yours truly)

A few months ago, I was developing a couple of classes for a multiclass endurance racing event. I got part of the way through, and then my laptop went kaput, taking my data with it. The good news, though, is that after some hotlapping and a couple of short races with Bimmer, I think we've found a solution. Lower class is basically all the old RWD cars. Upper class is GT40 vs. P330, a rematch of a classic rivalry. I'd like to run both of these classes, but if there's overwhelming demand to run a single-class event instead, I'm open to the possibility. So, with no further ado, I give you the classes for the 1.2 hours of Sebring (72 Minutes ). If we're close to a full field, I may invite a few non-Forza-Tuning friends to fill out the grid.

LeMans Prototypes:
Car: Either P330 or GT40
S Class
Slicks, roll cage required.

GT:
Car: Pre-1976, RWD
C Class
Slicks, Roll Cage Required.

Date: Saturday, March 20, time TBD.

Race scored by distance traveled, classes scored separately, 120 minute duration.

Prototypes:

1 Spiny

2

3

4

GT:

1 Bimmer

2 Pete (?)

3

4

Depends what time this is going to be at, but if it's a UK friendly time I'd quite like to give the P330 a run out 8)

I'm thinking about 3pm EDT, since that's about the time we lose coverage of the race in favor of Talkin' Bout turnin' left a lot.

Boys, I honestly would like to try this with you, but there is no way on God's green acre I could go 10 laps in a row, let alone 1.2 hours.

However, I do wish you well, and am looking forward to the results.

You know what would be cool.  If I could find somebody in town here who was half assed decent with Forza who could come over to the house the day of the race.  Then we could swap out during pitstops just like in the real race.

That's what would be cool.

There just has to be another Forza nut in this hole-in-the-wall little assed town I live in.  I just got to figger out how to run him down.

LMAO - what if it is Sarcasmo Jones... ;D

I'm still going to build up my P330 and my GT40 and see what kind of times I get on the big Sebring track.

They're a lot of fun there, Blooze.  Every time I dropped my laptime enough in Car A to fear that Car B wouldn't compete, I switched cars and dropped my laptime low enough to figure that maybe Car A couldn't keep up with Car B.  I'm ready to run either class, kind of running wherever I'm needed.  If we were able to switch drivers, that would be awesome.  It would also allow us to do a four-hour enduro at some point, which just isn't feasible in the single-driver format when you drive with your thumbs.

Hmmm, 3pm EST with daylight saving your end but not hours - I think that's 7pm here which is fine, just got to remember to get an early tea :)

Reckon I'm in for this one.

Well, guys, I hate to do this, but put a "?" next to my name - my attendance is now iffy, depending on how real life unfolds tomorrow.  If I can make it, I will.  :)

Well, that was fun!  If anyone has pics, feel free to post them.  Spiny is sending me his replay, but I won't have time to watch the whole thing, take good pics, and come up with a good write-up.  That said, I had a blast, and it seemed others did as well.  Can't wait to do this (or something similar) again!

You sure it was me sending a replay? If so, there is a slight snag in that I didn't save it :-[

Good race, just need something a bit more competitive next time around - I seemed to be a good second or two slower than the front three. Or maybe I need to hire a better driver...

Someone said they were sending me one.  Apparently it wasn't you.  Oh well; if there's a replay in my inbox, great, and if not, it was still a good time for all.
