Some new and old calc tools for FM3
« on: December 03, 2009, 12:35:22 PM »
excel 97-2003
http://www.mediafire.com/file/o1nfioqgngu/fm3-december-3-Plus_Gear_Analysis_v1.00.xls

excel 2007
http://www.mediafire.com/file/jjt2jmjmydm/fm3-december-3-Plus_Gear_Analysis_v1.00.xlsx

I got these links to some Excel files from I guy on the the FM boards that mix my new FM3 clacs with some reworked Blooze trans tools.
I can't use 'em since they are in .xls format, but I have my own .ods version for backup.

Heh, that looks like he's done a lot of work to the thing.  Is he posting over there?  I couldn't find the user name he used in the spreadsheet.

Thanks,

;D $

It just keeps getting better. Thanks for spreading the spreadsheet! ;)

This looks very good. His name is on top of tab 3

I have been looking for a gear calc, the gearhead calc has been talked about but not found a copy. so this looks great.

I have found a reluctance in building and tunning in the new game due to being so dam poor all the time the storfront is just to tempting. I have a few cars with parts now I could try to improve so will look for a candidate maybe the new car pack would be a good choice maybe.

thanks for posting

Some automotive tuning formulae. Might be of some use to calc developers, and tuners.

I've been playing around with this idea of a generic build guide. Its nothing too elaborate, just a rough reference of values based on class to give you an idea of where the builds strengths and weaknesses may lay.

Comments and ideas welcome.

You'll need Open Office to open it.
http://download.openoffice.org/ Once opened in  OO, you can save as Excel,
Or ask FD to post it in google docs, then you should be able to download it in Excel.

Fdog - I like the build guide sheet espcecially the power/weight calc.  I could see you adding 2 more columns per class so each would have a grip, balanced, power, column.

BTW, is there an open office version of your tuning calc sheet around?

The tuning calcs, both versions, are on the first post of my thead in the FM3 Tuning Marketplace.

This build reference is pretty basic.

A grip build would feature grip items of the next higher class, and power features of one lower.
The reverse would be true for a missile build. But any class has flexibility in numbers to at least one level higher and lower.
Differing tire widths can obviously throw some of the tire numbers way off,...I just average them out for reference.

There are too many variants of power-to-weight for this to be anything more than a rough quide too, but it gets you pointed in the right direction I think.

A muscle car, for example, kinda blows the actual power and weight values out of whack, but the power-to-weight ratio and grip levels will be within tolerances.

Another example is aero. My A-class Porsche GT2 has no aero but runs very well.

Its just a rough guide.

In my head I'm seeing the idea of a range for each class.  Maybe just put your own phrase in the sheet:

"A grip build would feature grip items of the next higher class, and power features of one lower."

Thanks for the directions to the tuning calc.

Didn't know where else to post this, other than starting a new thread. Some may already have seen this, and it will probably be out of date soon, unless FD flips his updates to the creators...
Any way, a cool looking tool, with some neat advanced features and tire temp tweaker.
