Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit - DLC on Tuesday
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:27:48 AM »
Looks like I'll have a few more tracks to complete while chasing the Blooze...

The latest Forza Motorsport 3 downloadable add-on has been announced, and this time around, we’ve re-created one of the world’s most renowned and technical tracks for your racing pleasure. Introducing the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit, a demanding road course built to test the mettle of the world’s best drivers. The DLC pack comes with 2 tracks on the Grand Prix Circuit and will cost only 400 MS points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace on 2/9.

That is going to be 1 hour per class added to everybody's time.  We'll find out how many are active fairly soon with that.  Also, the folks that decide not to get the DLC tracks will not have a means of taking care of that 1 hour.

Wow!  Turn 10's own marketing page for the track says "this track is freakin' boring!".  I tend to concur; I've driven this track in a few games, and it's punishing, clinical, and somehow boring despite its multitude of corners.  Kind of a German Motegi.

I suppose I'll still have to get it, because unlike cars that I can skip and just see the DLC Car, a missing track will greatly interfere with my ability to play online.

I just wish they had chosen a more entertaining track.  If you want a GP circuit, why not Spa?  Why not Monza?  Why not Sao Paolo?  Why not MONACO?

I hope we've got plenty more tracks coming... this one feels like a waste of DLC to me.  :(
Don't make me go get my Bentley Hummer!

If it is like Motegi I will absolutely enjoy it.  I can't get enough of Motegi Full and Motegi East.  While I've never "driven" on the Ring's F1 track I WON'T be without the DLC.  It will put to test all of the people that whine about leaving or not spending a single dime on the franchise.  Fine with me, just don't complain when I'm an hour faster than you overall.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I just finished S Class this weekend - now all I have left is X and R3, and a good portion of X is completed.  I also have 80% of the career finished - all of the low level and mid level events have been completed.  So, I am speaking to you as a person who has been through every one of the Ladera Test tracks, all six of them, more than 10 times each.

No track can be more boring, more tiresome to look at, more irksome to have to deal with than those.

The new tracks exist really.  There are events that I watch on TV that happen at those Nurburgring tracks.  They are welcome in my library, and interest wise, leagues beyond the very best moment I have had on those orange and black sanded test tracks.

I have to concur, I am tired of the twisty test tracks. No end to the career and event challenges in every class/pi level etc. Some times back to back, graduate from one event, then run the same tracks in the next. God, let's move on!
I am a race fan, have been most of my life, and identify with the popular tracks competed by the popular race leagues.
F1, LMS, ALMS, FIA GT and Touring, DTM, ALMS, BTCC, GARRA, World Challenge Gt and Touring, Trans Am, etc. etc. the list goes on... and all the sub series that support and feed to these series.
I also like Rally, a lot!, but I can't get warm and fuzzy over some of the punitive and all-be-it challenging tracks we are forced to endure over and over. Give us more of the real world race tracks, not just mountain trek excursions. Ya, the scenery is nice but...
I will grab the 'Ring GP Circuit DLC, just because it is a real world track. Bring on more (Mosport would be nice  8))

Rant over and out.

More is, almost, always better. I'll part with 400 points for this. Need more locales to thrash around the 2-Eleven. Nurburgring GP will fit the bill nicely.

Hey, Choccy! Nice to hear from you. Still hibernating I guess. I would , too, but wee Tam needs his outdoor time. What's with your 2-11. I'd like to take that tune for a spin.
Cheers!

Done. But, there's not much to it. The 2-Eleven is more about the nut behind the wheel than anything else. All of my current "tunes" are little more than Sport modifications and finding an optimal tire pressure and acceleration differential setting. I'm still feeling my way around FM3's improved handling model. Leaning on the tires so to say...

Well, the tracks are there but they're not plugged in yet.  There's a "maintenance" down time scheduled for the database starting at 7 Pacific (9 Central) - I guess they'll do it then.

I drove 3 or 4 laps on the Full track with my S Class Vette - not bad - not much different from Catalunya as far as esthetics go.  Hairpins are a bugger tho...

Nurburgring GP is challenging. The track looks smooth, but far from it. There are many surface irregularities that will catch you off-guard, especially in some of the high speed turns. I took a Lotus Elise[C425] for a dozen test drive laps and managed 2:13.xx. Nur GP definitely gets a thumbs up!

I took a few laps on each ribbon this morning.  I have to say the shorter course is more interesting and as Choccy says watch out for some weird bumps and other track irregularities.  Speaking of irregularities what's up with the Euro-techno music at the start of the front straight, lol.

If the track was absolutely smooth like Catalunya, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. Even in my ultralight Elise, if I attacked a corner at the limit but wasn't on my toes, the consequences would be dire.

Music blaring from the hotel at the back straight. And you can hear the droning of engines and exhausts from cars at the Nordschleife on the opposite side. Adds to the party ambience and reminds you that you're right beside the Green Hell.
