Civic Type R 07 no pics this time.  Maybe I'll get some while QR runs are done.  Shifted balance forward and softened springs and dampers.  Has race displacement, street exhaust, sport flywheel, BBS RK wheels.  "No replacement for displacement."  :P

And barumba, well done! 8) There's always a nice feeling comes from getting further up the leaderboard than you're used to isn't there?
Thanks for the "encouraging words" (not "dis..." I think there is a song in there... deer, antelope, but I digress  ;)) I've never been a LB follower, instead content to better my last personal best effort. But, yup, it was nice, and surprising, and somewhat invigorating to get there. Gaughd, I hope don't get get addicted (won't happen  ;)).
Cheers!

Okay, finally - I been 3 days trying to sort this out.  These are pictures of my Vauxhall that I took on its last trip up the mountain.  It managed to set its own personal best at a 293.xxx.  The paint is my attempt to emulate the livery of the BTCC Team VX Racing.

This is the rig I am trying to emulate.

and this is the emulation...

I love looking over the scenery on Kaido.  I am going to gather a collection of nothing but Scenery Shots.

Looks sweet Blooze.  I spent the better part of last night in the paint booth working on two cars.  Both turned out horribly!!  After about 90 mins I painted them both factory white and rolled them outside to dry.  Seems like My Forza is back up so I'll snap some shots of the Alfa next chance I get.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I was shocked to see my times were up there.  I play offline, and normally if I need a measuring stick other than my own improvement, I look to the community here.  (And when I did compare my times to the leaderboard in Forza2, I found that I was lucky to be in the top 1000.)  To see a top 200 and mid-300 was totally unexpected.

I would venture that everyone's performance on Kaido is improving!

Once you get this down, your ready to take on those Kaido Laps...

That's a nice looking Astra Blooze. After doing one myself I know you will have put lots of time and effort into that so it's good to see that it's paid off.

Well done! 8)

Thanks for the compliments on the Paint Job guys.  I acutally tried to come up with something that looked like the real cars.  I have to confess however, that I bought the vxR Logo out of some dude's store front.  Then I found out that I can't post the paint job or auction the car because of that.  So one of these nights when I'm tired of driving and tuning, I'll be making my own vxR after all...

I attacked the hills again tonight, this time with the Volvo C30.

I think i'm off my game a bit, as I had to run at least 6 or 8 restarts each just to get a certified lap. Very frustrating.

In general, the Volvo seems to handle better than the Citroen C4, but the Volvo felt more like the C4 than the VW GTI.
The GTI felt balanced but under powered.
The Citroen C4 had a touchy rear end.
The Volvo C30 seemed to have a light front end.

All said and done the hills are getting much more familiar to me, and its reflecting in the times. I think all of us are benefitting from this kind of challenging....,um....challenge.

That's exactly what I did Blooze. I bought someone's logo, (It was a Ford of Aust. FPV logo) and redid it and took it a step further. Now its see thru.

Sweet.

I've been meaning to run some times in legal cars and follow up on the 1 series. But too many things pulling me one way or another.

I have some new times that I'm rather pleased with. My little Clio has done me proud but I have spent quite a bit of time hitting restart to get these. I could perhaps improve a little on each with a bit more time but they are about as good as I'll get them.

NUH: 290.174
NDH: 279.513

My painting is so bad that I rarely bother so don't expect anything off me on that front. Time to work on another car to see how it compares with the Renault.

That is becoming obvious...  the times are getting quicker and guicker.  Good job guys!!

That Clio looks like it is indeed a nimble little number, Phil.

The way that I tune, all of the cars basically feel the same.  What ends up needing tweeked for is the differnces in the parts, and the torque range of the engine.  Like with the Citroen, what was doing with me is breaking the tires loose in places like those switchbacks on Kaido, or Tsukuba, and breaking straight if I was in the midst of a turn, which I usually am when that happens.  I feel this is due mostly to the narrow limit of the tires, hence the lower grip marks on the benchmark.  Another contributer is the stroker attribute of the engine.  This has its good points, but there can be some issues - low speed wheel spin.  My cure for this is lowering the lock level on the Accel and not being quite so aggressive with the throttle when in those types of situations.

I pulled a Barumba and soldiered through to at least get one clean run in both directions.  I must have had15 starts on the downhill for my one clean run.

I banged and clattered my way to an improvement both directions for my SEAT.  The improvements are getting harder and harder to come by, and therefore, more chances are taken, and more fences are banged and clattered on...

Fun, ain't it?

It's funny you say that, Blooze. This is something like what we went through with the N-ring in FM2. At first frustration. Verging on saying "screw it". But with a bit of perseverance, learning the track, some astute tuning, and a few adjustments to the "nut behind the wheel", results improved. Success in sight. Now, when I start a "pinball wizard" run in this challenge, I actually find myself chuckling, knowing I'll get past it. Yup, you are right, it is fun!
