The shop's garage is dark, with just a hint of early morning sunlight peeking under a nearly close garage bay door. Bimmer is sitting in a lone chair across from a pulverized E46 M3, his head in his hands. Sarah walks in from the showroom door...
Sarah: Dude...
Bimmer: *sigh*
Sarah: I know. It hurts.
Bimmer: She was the backbone of the whole shop. You know that.
Sarah: I know. It wasn't your fault, you know that. It's racing. Stuff happens.
In the final race of the series this past weekend, Heidi was utterly and completely demolished when he and Fndr tried to take Turn 1 at Maple Valley two wide. Bimmer caught the worst of it, and Heidi caught the dirt on the way off, going into a violent series of rolls. She rolled 5 times before slamming into the outside wall at 80 miles an hour on the roof. Bimmer managed to get out of it with just a couple of cuts, bruises, and a distinct distaste for the notion of walking, but Heidi was gone. The chassis was warped beyond repair, the roll cage had pulled out of the strut towers, the engine cam to rest 50 feet away from the rest of the car, with various in sundry other parts of her strewn about the runoff area.
Bimmer: Yeah, I know.
Sarah: You know you've got to get to Spain today. Gavin's already got everything ready for you, you just need to get there and drive. But you do need to get there and drive.
Bimmer: OK, fine. I'll go home and get a shower.
Sarah: I've got you a ticket for a flight that leaves in three hours. Think you can make it?
Bimmer: Yeah, I'll make it.
Sarah: Look, we'll get it all figured out. While you two are banging around econoboxes, I'll get the guys to go over Heidi and get whats salvageable. I'll find another E46. We'll rebuild her.
Bimmer: Yeah, you're right. We can get this done.
Sarah: Like a phoenix...
Bimmer: ...from the ashes.
