Live Axle Model?
« on: October 28, 2009, 02:34:40 PM »
I tried tuning with a GT 500 last night. I found that they might have modeled a live axle.

Tele in the front showed higher degrees of camber change movement than the rear which stayed pretty stable. Both ends were set at 1.5 deg. In two laps the spread on the rears was over 20. While the spread on the fronts was only at 10. So I halved it and I did not test to find out if it fixed it.

This was with a massive HD induced headache. I swear if I stare at the ultra clear resolution of an HD too long it makes my head hurt. It feels almost to sharp of a picture.

Also at with that tune the car was virtually undrivable. It wouldn't hook up  and was really oversteery. It felt worse than stock tires but it had slicks fitted.

I'm definitely gonna watch this to see how it develops/if I pick up on it.

As for the HD thing, try turning down the brightness some.  A little bit can go a long way  :)
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

Right now, the camber is set at .9 F and .6R.  Heat values are within my specification of spread of ten, favoring the inside.

This is with a 40 series race slick fitted both F and R.

Next up is to check heat values from another car with higher sidewalls and solid axle. Datsun 510.

I'm thinking that sidewall height is going to play a large part in camber values.

I'm following this thread with interest!  I haven't really got many hours into FM3 myself yet... and the little I do have I am just running around in un-upgraded cars trying to get a decent pile of credits together so I can do some physics experiments of my own.

Please continue to share your findings.
