Oh man, the new game is almost here.

So much stuff to do.  But this time I swear, promise ... hope ...  not to get all up in a froth about getting it all done as soon as possible.  I'm gonna paint, I'm gonna take pictures.  I'm gonna take my time.

But, I do have a list...
  • Verify the Tonka/Blooze toon.
  • Modify Car sheet with new options, etc..
  • Update leaderboard sheets according to new leaderboards.  I hope they can be accessed from the PC

One of the first things I got to do is go chase them two old farts, Willis the mechanic and Eph the painter, down and see if they are gonna be of any help, or will it end up being me and the kid BucksToon sort of fidllin' around with things on our own.  I know one thing, we got to get this editor fixed...

Heh, up at 4:00 AM after about 5 hrs. flopping around trying to get some sleep whilst contimplating and plotting on the new game.  So here I am, in affect, playing Forza III, and much as I can with what I got...

I still need to make the trip to a less dinky town to get me a new wheel.  I guess I could do that today...

I want to write a story as well - still mulling that around.  The movie, Indian with Anthony Hopkins bounces around inside my mulls...

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday...

I've been following the discussions and gearing up for FM3.  I've started updating my spreadsheets and this time around started a blog for any rambling thoughts I might have.  Tomorrow I'm planning to watch Grand Prix with James Garner and a couple weeks ago watched McQueen's Le Mans.  I'm surprised the 917K hasn't been in Forza considering all the other Porsches they do have.  It should have been a GT40 killer.

At least initially I'm going forward with the existing calcs, but doubling the spring rate and using .7 as for the ratio of bump to rebound damping to get in the range FM3 uses.  Like I did last time I'll be looking at trends in the default settings, but I don't expect to have enough data to do that for at least a month.  What will be real interesting to see are the default suspension settings of some of the R-Class cars that were in FM2.  In FM2 I found that these showed very tight trends, much tighter than the production classes.  I'm thinking a handful of these would let me recalibrate the Tonka Toy more precisely.

Hey Blooze, has anyone come up with a complete tracks list so that I may transpose the new names over the old ones in my current spreadsheet.  I want to be able to track my cars per class on all of the tracks like I did before and have it automatically calculate the QR and improvements.  I have one of your versions of a U-class spreadsheet that I have modified to handle all classes.  Just trying to get ahead of the game so I can be prepared.

Don't know how to add a copy of the file for comparison and I've changed the name from the original. Dang.

Edit: Nevermind. A quick trip to the daught net proved a bit fruitful.

Ugh, 5:00 in the morning...  I don't seem to have the energy to pull the all nighters like I used to.  It looks as tho I am going to have no problem not steam rolling the game this time.

Speaking of which, that Season manager thing is messing with my chi, or whatever.  It has me hopping from car to car in such a way that helter skelter looms in the back of my head.  I like to take my time with a car when I build it.  Race all the races it can race, set its QR, paint it (maybe) and take a picture of it.  This race one event and jump to another car unsettles me.

Holy Smokes and a tip o d hat to Game Stop.  My LCE version arrived yesterday.  I don't know when, late afternoon I think.  I was busy playing the Walmart version so I didn't notice.   :-[  I sort of have a cool rational for that tho.  I got to thinking back to how many Forza II discs I went thru during the heavy season and it occurred that having an extra around might not be a bad deal.  And for an extra $6 Walmart has the replacement deal going so that will be much better than bugging Game Stop for another disc when I have a serious Forza jones on.  And besides that, I get the cool BMW too!

So any how, I am off to redeem a bunch of stuff...

In FM2 I had a copy of each edition, Basic, LCE and Platinum.  So far I have an LCE and another LCE should be sitting at a Gamestop in Arlington, TX waiting for pickup.  I had preordered one for delivery to my house ages ago, but found I was going to be working in Texas around when the game came out.  As it turned out I left Dallas a couple days before that and don't go back until Nov 8.  BUT the Gamestop manager said they would hold it along with a preorder code until I get back there.  We'll see, anyway the girlfriend won't let me take the copy here out of town.

LOL - if you took off with the Forza Disc it would be hot tongue and cold shoulder for you when you got back, and she would have run out to Wally World to get another one - so you might as well have extras from the git-go...

You can say that again - up until about level 15 I never seemed to have enough cash to build a car out how I wanted it. And whenever a new series came along I had to start on a new car before the last one was finished. Result: one half finished VX220 plus one half-baked Brera as well as a few "proper" cars. Got to say though that that Alfa 8C looks sweet.

I'm using Season Play to get cash, so I'm hesitant to spend money.  So far I've only bought one car, '87 Firebird, for the Nissan Speedway in the F-Class Speedway Tour (what a waste of an event), but it was the only speedway that the AI didn't brake on, so I needed something with the same top speed as the AI leaders.  And, I have only upgraded one car; the Fiesta to F-200 just to see the upgrade tools.  I did get the Fiesta and Vauxhall to level 5.  My goal is to level up a car to 5 and move to the next one.  I just keep picking the same cars whenever possible and eventually the Season Play will open up the calendar for a car I've run before.  To me upgrading for leaderboard attacks and buying cars I want comes after Season Play is over.

I do love the shop in the mornings.  Quiet.  Think about what the day has in store.

RL looms its ugly head today.  Got to go pay some bills, lay in some groceries, that sort of thing.  Yick...

It is cool to check the Friends on the Leaderboard and see so many crowns.  So many like minded dudes in one place...

Painting and Picture taking are already populating the Round Tuit list.   :-\  leopards and spots, I guess...

Sounds like we are approaching the game in about the same manner Tonka.  I have only run a QR on one car, and only took time out to run a leaderboard race - that was to complete the C Class roundy round.  Other than that, Hotlaps have been just to get aquainted with new tracks.  I have been known to turn the line on full and the AI down to nose breather and take a new track on bare foot, but I really don't like doing it that way - too arcadish I think.

Ah good, the coffee pot gurgled...  I need a cup.

Seems like you and Tonka are going about things a bit differently than I am.  Good for the sake of discussion.  While I still have no solid direction on where to go with the game yet I'm not following career to very closely at the moment.  Having to swap between cars and classes constantly is a bit of a hassle and finding the cars that carry over to multiple events is almost as difficult as finding the best tool for the job at this point.

For the moment I'll be happy to run the occasional career race and tool around in the lower classes but my main focus is going to be to learn the new tracks.  Like you said, its a barefoot walk on a gravel road for some but since I'm sticking to mostly stock F class cars I'm not going all that fast anyway.

Tonight should be more econo-box bashing and maybe, just maybe, I'll find that one car that I can't live without in F class.

I was a tad worried about goofing something up in the Season Master logic by running around in the races freestyle.  Now that I have determined that that ain't so, I may do a bit more of what you are talking about.  I too am resisting getting moved up in class too quickly.
