CF: We've managed to land an interview with Brian, crew chief of Spiny Anteater who drove the hitherto problematic to a surprising 2nd place in today's race. Our Brian takes up the action...
BT: Brian, we've not seen much of the Miura yet, what went right today.
Brian: Well Brian, we've struggled to make the races this season. The first two were lost due to sponsorship commitments, at Maple Valley we suffered some early damage and had a flawed strategy which didn't help us, and at Road Atlanta we suffered a massive electrical failure just before the race which put us out of the contest. I guess that just making the grid was a step in the right direction, so to get second place was massive for us.
BT: The Miura looked quick today, can you explain how?
Brian: Our car is very good on the brakes and on turn in, but lacks the ultimate grip of some of the really well-handling cars such as Snyder's and Open's. If i had to say, I would say that the field today had those two grippy cars, two power cars run by Pete and Bimmer which really struggled, and two compromise cars in the form of ours and the Tiny Terror car. I was really surprised that we were faster than Open, especially as he had a better top end on the straight - the only thing I can thing of as to our speed is that our excellent turn-in meant we could carry more speed in the corners than might otherwise be the case. It has to be said though that we had no answer to Snyder.
BT: You had a bit of an incident in the pits - can you elaborate on what caused that?
Brian: Yes.
BT: And...?
Brian: Our idiot driver managed to hit the pit wall coming into the pits. Fortunately, the large bang wasn't symptomatic of any serious damage - in fact apart from the car jumping out of 2nd gear at the time of the impact and Spiny having to select first we didn't suffer any damage at all which is a miracle really. The track officials here at Mugello seem to have really perfected the art of energy absorption.
BT: So apart from that, a pretty quiet easy run then?
Brian: Almost, but our entire computer system crashed on lap 22 and we were unable to track the progress of the other cars. Fortunately, we were able to soldier on to the end and maintain that 2nd place despite not knowing what sort of times the other guys were setting [Thanks guys

]. Other than that though, the Miura performed almost faultlessly. Just a shame about the driver.
BT: Will we be seeing you at the 'Ring?
Brian: I hope so. We're not in a position to confirm just yet, but at the moment indications are positive.
BT: There we go then, Monotremely Slow Racing are very pleased with that 2nd place, and hope to put in a good show at the fearsome Nuerburgring. And now, back to the studio...
